I'm preparing for NaNoWriMo, so I'm just surfing the web for writing tips since I'm starting to panic (even thought it's still October 31st! lol). I found this article on INFJ writers and found that I related a lot to what it said. I was hoping maybe to hear your opinions on it. :)

The article is very interesting. Nice to meet another INFJ who is participating in NaNoWriMo. :)
I'd have to agree on the part where it speaks of not being motivated by a topic that is not interesting in the mind's eye or something that we have never experienced before. It takes me quite a while to develop a plot and then quickly work through the whole story in my head before starting to write. As for tips, what kind are you looking for?

Hahahahah - Yay!!! Fellow NaNoWriMo peeps! This is my 4th time.

The forums help a LOT on the Nano site. Also...ESPECIALLY for me - I just keep writing things out (aka word padding) even if it isn't making sense, until I can't focus anymore on the nonsense I'm writing...and then a *switch* happens and the analytical mind shuts off and boom.....18,000 words later...come out of a trance from a different world and a REALLY awesome story unfolded while you were gone.

Seriously, that happened back in 2008. I was SOOOO behind in word count. I had zero idea going in what I would be writing, but it's become my favorite plot I've ever had. The point of Nano anyways is to "Write now...ask questions later." Ideally, you leave typos & grammar alone and keep going. Even if your sentence looks like this: "And then they so she was going to, but wait no. That's not what I meant. ahem." And so on.

If you can hit the "zone"...oh my god...it's magic.

Btw, sorry. I was at a huge Nano event last night for Halloween. At midnight, 140+ NaNo participants went dead silent except the clicking of laptops. I got 3 hours of sleep before I had to get up for work. So I'm loopy. :-D

That article describes me pretty well. I get into an obsessive state when writing papers so that I can focus on the details better. I take too many notes so that I can pare it down into something readable. Worked out well for me in school.

I also related to a lot of the article. I always like to have my stories at least somewhat planned out before I start them. That's where I'm worried I might have problems with my NaNo book. I had a great spurt today and managed nearly 7,000 words, but now, I'm not sure where to take the book next.

So many people are doing NaNo!

@CeeJae_Flippert I had no idea what Snitchseeker was until you mentioned it right now. haha I'm not writing anything Harry Potter related, although my Nano is a fanfiction. But a Merlin/Doctor Who crossover because those are my main shows. LOL

@Bright Laughter OMG THE INNER EDITOR. I managed to shut it up last night and am in the zone. :D I don't know how long it'll last until I start getting critical and my word count becomes static, but so far I'm pumping out words and it's great! Spellcheck has been deactivated. xD But yeah, I have some pretty hilariously bad sentences, but I'm tying not to read back or else I'll start crying. I just want a first draft written so I can worry about editing in December. jlghsfkj But the forum is VERY helpful. It's helped so much, not even just the discussions about writing, but communicating with people who are doing this too. Very few of the people I know irl have even heard of NaNoWriMo!

Oh, dear. D: You could try out some word sprints or word wars. A lot of people from the Nano forums love writeordie.com. Personally, I've found the Nanoisms thread has inspired me a lot. :)

Over the weekend, on Saturday I managed to write enough to give myself a day off. Right now I have written 11,684 words and the story is creating its own ways to thicken the plot. A typo today gave me idea for a epic subplot. hahaha

That's crazy! :frustrating:

Reminds me of hitting the wall while running, except it's mental exhaustion instead of physical. I've never tried to pound through a wall before. I usually sit down, listen to a few songs, maybe pick up some Ray Bradbury until I feel my brain start buzzing again, then I hit the laptop.

With school as it is, though, I dunno if I'll make the 50k. Still, it's fun, and I'm feeling a pretty cool story weaving together on my end.

My word count makes your word count look good.

<sigh>
Why did I have to get sick, have lots of work, AND start travelling the one November I actually have a shot of winning this?

I haven't been able to write anything today since I have a midterm tomorrow. Hopefully I'll be able to catch up over my three day weekend. It's upsetting not to work on it today! haha I just want to break into 20k over the weekend. By Sunday we're supposed to have about 21,600 to keep in time. D:
