Hello, I am a random loser who stumbled upon this site in a Google search. I was interested in meeting other types of people. I assume you'd like a brief bio:

  • I'm a 17 year old Hispanic male living in NYC by the name of Jorge Reyes.
  • I enjoy writing, drawing, playing music, Psychology, Astronomy, Soccer, and other things I'm too lazy to mention.
  • I am a proud INTJ.
  • I am also dumb and have the IQ of 12.

Now as an INTJ, I've been defined as extremely cynical. I really dislike human life in its entirety and think the world's corruption comes from it's addiction to instant gratification. In fact, you can find a discussion on my views here [apparently I cannot post links yet. >____>
You can find it if you go legendoflegaia (with a .net in the end) and search Personality and click the thread titled Personality types. The discussion is on the fourth page. If you're lazy, however, you can wait for me to post another 10 times. But a brief description of my views are in the answers below if you seek an instant source of information.]

I'm a Moderator there (named Redhollowlives999) discussing some psychology with a pal of mine (an INFP). -I apologize in advance for the wording errors, most of our discussion happen very early in the morning EST and I'm usually very tired by then.-

Now I know we as INTJ don't really like our inner worlds being intruded, but as a natural scientist, I'm curious as to what others are thinking about and how they process things. So I'm willing to spill a tad about what goes on in my mind in exchange for some things about your minds. Other types other than INTJ are welcome to answer, but these are made more for our kind.

Q1. If you had to choose either living in the external world and living in your mind or a dream world, which would you choose?

A: Personally, I'd pick the mind/dream world in a heartbeat. Even now I prefer to be alone at home than anything else.

Q2.
What exactly goes in your head? Do you simply think over theories or do you review past events and calculate how they will affect you later? (you can be as vague as you want.)

A: I tend to talk to other voices in my head. I discuss theories with them, I argue with them, or simply have a casual conversation with them. It can range really to anything from politics to astronomy to a simple revision on how my day played out, in case I missed anything important. I've decided to simply call them Alter Egos to avoid confusing people when I do eventually talk to them about it. As it stands, I have 2 active voices, and a third one that is like... non existent. I can give a brief description of each of them if you please.

Q3. How do you usually manage to deal with Extroverts or fun-loving "act without thinking" types that don't know when to silence themselves? What are your methods do avoid dealing with them?
A: I have little to patience with Extroverts that act this way. Their irrationality can get on my bad side. I either get really angry and leave or try my hardest to sound them out by listening to music or going into my inner world. Usually the people there manage to calm me down well enough (or at least 2 of them do).

Q4. What's your opinion on Emotions? Do you find them annoying? Overused? Or do you simply not understand the way they are used in the modern era?

A: As that link already explained, I find them unnecessary and a burden. They're overused WAY too much in today's times and thus have lost the purpose to their true meaning. Which I believe is to strengthen certain actions and etc.

tl;dr, they have the potential to be powerful, but humans today have no true control over it- thus it's just hindering true growth.

Q5. If you could have 3 super powers, what would they be?

A: I'd prefer:

  • Mind-Reading.
  • Teleportation (or I guess Instant Transmission for DBZ fans)
  • This can be anything- I don't care. Flight sounds nice atm.

I hope to stay here for as long as possible and to make new allies. Also is anyone here a SNSD/GG fan?

Hi Redhollow! I literally joined this website moments ago. Welcome fellow INTJ! I'm going to take a shot at answering your questions, they are very interesting! Planning on checking out your discussion tomorrow, as it is getting late where I live. Okay, here it goes!

Q1. If you had to choose either living in the external world and living in your mind or a dream world, which would you choose?
A: This is a very difficult question... hmmm... I think I would live in a dream world. Despite the fact I get nightmares, at least you can control your dreams. I can't control the anxiety in my mind

Q2. What exactly goes in your head? Do you simply think over theories or do you review past events and calculate how they will affect you later? (you can be as vague as you want.)
A: I do both these things. I have imaginary friends (I know, sad and unhealthy), I can picture exactly what they look like, what their names are, and what personality types they have (I have real friends too!). I casually chat to these people, nothing as intense as you described. I like to think of theories by myself (I debate science videos that I had just seen on YouTube). I constantly replay moments of my life in my head, thinking of what I should have done, what I should have said... Constantly thinking of ways to be better at life! I constantly think of the future

Q3. How do you usually manage to deal with Extroverts or fun-loving "act without thinking" types that don't know when to silence themselves? What are your methods do avoid dealing with them?
A: Two of my closest friends are extroverts, actually! (ENFP and ESFP). I'm constantly surrounded by extroverts. Two of my brothers and my mother are extroverts (I'm not sure of the exact typing of my youngest brother, but the other brother and my mother are both ESFJs). Despite being close to these people, they really can get on my nerves. The ENFP never shuts up. But our friendship works because I have calmed her down, and she has gotten me to come out of my shell a bit. I constantly have to remind these people to THINK!!! If their silly natures are getting too much, I will distance myself for awhile (I do this anyway as socialising drains me). Spending time with other introverts helps too, like my father (INTP). I avoid other extroverts in school by going for walks by myself.

Q4. What's your opinion on Emotions? Do you find them annoying? Overused? Or do you simply not understand the way they are used in the modern era?
Another very interesting question. I find that emotions are indeed over-used, resulting in being annoying! Girls my age get SO EXCITED over... nothing! Bands, clothes... Oh my gosh emotions don't mean anything anymore! I indeed do not understand how idiotically excited people can get over such small things and then be completely oblivious to the fact that there are children dying of starvation in the world right now! (This constantly makes me sad) <- So yes, I do possess emotion. INTJS can FEEL, contrary to popular belief

Q5. If you could have 3 super powers, what would they be?
Oh I like this question!
1. Invisibility. I'd love this so that I could avoid people I don't want to talk to
2. I would love to be able to pause, rewind and fast-forward TIME! Pausing and rewinding to correct idiotic mistakes in my life, and fast-forwarding to skip all the boring parts! (Like my ESFJ brother and mother talking... they forget things mid-sentence and they never get to the point!)
3. I considered mind-reading, but then realised it would probably drive me even crazier than I already am  I'm anxious enough as it is. I would love to be able to fly because it simply looks FUN!

Welcome to the forums fellow newbie, and good luck on your ventures fellow INTJ!

Hello everyone.

Cossack, really? Can I know what your nationality is exactly? I'm a Cuban/Dominican.

Hawkward, I noticed a few of your posts on the site, thanks for noticing mine.
Your answers are interesting- would it be weird if I said you people feel like a real family? I can relate with so many of you here as opposed to my own, where I seem to be the only Introvert sometimes (I'm still new to Empathy, this is interesting).

Kristindork, yeah, I'm sorry about that. I like to put emphasize on alot of things. :/

Wow, it was no problem at all! Thank you very much :proud: Your questions were very interesting and thought-provoking! I'm surprised you noticed my posts as I haven't posted very much  Your answers are interesting too.

I hope it's not weird, because I feel the same way  I feel that way sometimes too

Then would you mind if I "friended" you (or whatever this site refers to it as). Because I'm kinda new to this place too. :/

Me? Sure, go right ahead! I would do it but I have yet to discover how  (I'm in a heavily sleep-deprived state). Thanks a lot!

1. Although some people piss me off, and I'd rather live in my mind, I would choose the external world. Mostly because I like a challenge. Might get kind of boring in my internal world after a while.

2. I brood a lot. I get pissed off at myself all the time for stuff I did in the past. When it comes to decisions, I think of the consequences and or things to go wrong with each option. I also think of what would best benefit me in the long run.

3. It can be difficult to deal with some extroverts. I've gotten along with every extrovert but ESFPs. Usually I just tune them out. I don't expect too much of them rationality-wise. If they say something stupid I really don't care.

4. I have a hard time dealing with emotions. Really don't care for them. They're just embarrassing in my opinion.

5. The power to have any power.

Hi, Onion (I will be calling you that from now on, if that's alright with you).

Your last answer makes me feel like I didn't think hard enough for mine. >.>

I mean the power to have any power. Come on, why didn't I think of that? >____<

Anyways, thanks for responding.

I don't mind the name, feels cool in a way to be called Onion xD.

Haha, I wasn't sure if that answer was considered cheating but I said it anyway.

I forgot to say welcome in my first post so I'll say it now. Welcome to Personality Cafe. Hope you have a good time.

Thanks.

I hope to meet alot of other types her and to perhaps gain a bit of perspective from others. Always interested in other's ideas and such. Of course you probably understand as an INTJ yourself.

1. If you had to choose either living in the external world and living in your mind or a dream world, which would you choose?
A: Living in my own mind of course. The dream world sounds also interesting but everything would probably be perfect there and I'd get bored of that. My mind, however, would be a challenge.

2. What exactly goes in your head? Do you simply think over theories or do you review past events and calculate how they will affect you later? (you can be as vague as you want.)

A: I'm basically always aware of the fact that I'm thinking. Metacognition. I know it is supposed to be a tool to use in specific circumstances, but ever since I understood the concept I haven't been able to switch it off. Not that I want to switch it off, it has actually brought me more good things than bad ones. I think one of the reasons I usually don't truly enjoy social interaction is that those situations force me to stop thinking that I'm thinking so I feel that I'm losing the control of myself and everything, and I don't like that.

About what I think, hmmm... I literally just think about myself, because if I wanted to think about other things I wouldn't have enought information, do you know what I mean? But if I think about me instead then I can entertain myself for hours and hours because I have pretty much all the information I need.

How do you usually manage to deal with Extroverts or fun-loving "act without thinking" types that don't know when to silence themselves? What are your methods do avoid dealing with them?
A: The only person I'd consider an actual friend is an extrovert. I don't feel like I have to "deal" with her, the real question is how the hell does she deal with me?. Apart from her, I don't know but I guess my apathy is reflected in my face because people usually know what can of stuff they can talk to me about and what just bothers me.

Q4. What's your opinion on Emotions? Do you find them annoying? Overused? Or do you simply not understand the way they are used in the modern era?

A: Lately I've been really obsessed with emotions, with my own emotions. I'm now trying to do metacognition when I'm really angry, really sad or really happy. It's not a fun thing to do but hopefully it will help me to deal with emotions in the future. I used to think I had control over my emotions lmao but all along I've only had control of my thoughts. So far I have come to many conclusions so thinking about emotions does work, hard but not impossible. By the way, I don't expect to ever understand other people's emotions, that’s just a lost cause to me.
