You are a member of generation X if....

you ever wore a check flannel shirt, sleeves rolled up, with all the buttons undone, to reveal a black T-shirt.

later on you got highlights put in your hair... and you're male

you wonder which planet your younger siblings came from that they could love the red hot chilli peppers so much

you thought Magnum PI was one bad ass dude and Erik Estrada was the coolest man alive :blushed:

you wonder why people are afraid of the sun and you consider sunscreen an optional extra

you remember the last time those woolen knit v-neck pullovers with no arms were in fashion. (what are they called?) Only your one's were orange and blue and the shirt collars were twice as big

your bathroom had his and her blowdryers!

It was fashionable to wear sneakers with your necktie.

You remember when Tab was the only diet soda.

Seat belts were optional.

You could walk straight to the gate at an airport to meet people as they came off the plane.

Hospitals still had ashtrays in the waiting areas.

T.V. networks still went "off the air".

not before playing the National Anthem

Yeah, I know I am a baby boomer only because of the end year "64"

I was born in "61", but it doesn't seem as too much of a difference to me...I feel more like the generation X. I feel like I got left out of the baby boomer era and didn't quite make it to generation X because of the year.

You are a member of Gen X if you roll your eyes every time you see a shitty trend from your childhood like Smurfs, or Chipmunks (which you now as an adult cannot understand why you ever did like it) coming back and seeing Smurf and Chipmunk merch and shows everywhere. :frustrating:

* You had a white capped-sleeve t-shirt with a rainbow arched across the front... and you weren't gay proud.

* You had sandals made from recycled tires with the treads on the soles. Anyone remember those?

* You were excited when 8-tracks were replaced with cassettes.

* You remember Olivia Newton-John as both a country and pop singer.

* Any item of clothing had a mushroom on it, preferably brown or orange.

* You and all your friends rode your bicycles without helmets or knee pads. And occasionally paid the price for it.

I'm not sure if you are referring to Jelly shoes aka "Jellies," but I was suddenly reminded of those from your post.
