...you've stopped to wonder what exactly lettuce is, and you stop whatever you're doing to Google it.
...You're transfixed by nature shows, watching the animals go about their business and thinking grand thoughts about patterns of behavior and experience in the universe.
...you've walked into a wall that seemed to appear out of thin air.
...you've ever spent more than thirty seconds studying the ants in an anthill and wondering what it would be like to be in one.
...you walk into one room and forget why you went in there, then remember something you need in another room and head there, only to forget the new item and remember the old one.
...you can make out planets, stars, and inspiring landscapes in the lines of peel-n-stick bathroom tile.
...you've ever been caught staring at an inanimate object with a strange smile on your face for an extended period of time.
...you sometimes wear two very obviously different socks, and are surprised when someone points this out as odd.

I never knew someone else could understand me nor where there people like me. I could stare at an inaninate objets for minutes and i also do smile, people look at me like "is she ok?" and also playing with anthills at age of 23 cause its fun just to see how they emerge from the ground XD.
And the fourth one is the most annoying. I hate it when I have to go to work.
Its sure good to read this from other people
you instantly tear up at a restaurant with a muted TV just by glancing at the faces of a winning sports team. (happened last night to me)
you cry listening to songs on a regular basis and it's not always due to lyrics. Sometimes it's just due to the sound.
you find yourself staring intently at a random someone trying to figure out what they are thinking without noticing or hearing anything else happening in the room.
when you alphabetize or do arithmetic, you attempt to feel the answer even though it's not a feeling.
you feel embarrassed and irritated when someone catches you smirking at your own thoughts and you are forced to tell them what you were thinking because chances are they do not understand why it is funny.
You laugh in movie theaters when no one else does
you wish you were an animal because then you could do whatever you wanted and no one would question you
you are more excited about having a day with no plans than a day full of plans
you try to find something in common with every single person you know just so you can feel a connection, no matter how abstract
people are always surprised to find out how cool you actually are once they get to know you.

You know when you're an INFP when you lock yourself in a room in a feeble attempt to get some work done and can only result in a 4 hour marathon of 90's techno music, internet games involving ninjas and contemplating a meaningful response to an internet forum, finally culminating with a walk outside because it's a cloudy and damp day and there will be nearly no one hanging around by the lake... All of which has just happened and will happen inevitably to me.
Euphoric Nocturne:
Very interesting description. I have a male friend who would fit almost exactly description, though I don't know whether he plays ninja video games. But the other stuff is true: 90s techno, meaningful response to a forum (very possibly, as he writes meaningful text messages), walking at the lake and being late night owl - most definitely! Really strange how you INFPs are so alike!
You know you're an INFP when you're lying in the yard alone daydreaming and notice that the pattern on the wooden fence looks like a cool creature from outer space. So you go grab your sketch pad and draw the character before you lose the place in the fence and forget what it looks like.
Sorry for quoting a super old post, but this is so true! Once after my shower there was the most awesome bearded dragon that appeared in the steam on the mirror, so I turned the shower back on to keep it steamy so I could draw it lol
You know you're an INFP when you laugh out loud to a thought in your head and everyone stares at you in a weird way. Then you can't figure out why their looking at you. Then when they ask you what you were laughing at all you can say is "huh?", cause you honestly don't know.
Or
You know you're an INFP when you are riding in a car and then you realize you are totally lost cause you were not paying attention to where you were going and you can't remember where you wanted to go OR you've been there a million times but don't realize it's the same place since you can't remember how you got there.

You know your INFP when your trying to get over a someone by deleting there number out your phone, but writing the number on a slip of paper and hiding it just in case.
You know you're an INFP if you're discussing an interesting idea with an imaginary person you've just created in your head only for this purpose.
Happens way too often to me... :bored:
...If you find yourself daydreaming about all sorts of imaginary or hypothetical situations and you find yourself having very intense reactions even though none of these things actually have happened or are likely to happen.
Oh my, every single gosh darn day. I will sometimes either get a lump in my throat or laugh out loud, or smile randomly when playing out these hypothetical situations. I'm so glad I'm not the only one
Oh and...
You know you're an INFP when you seek out movies that will make you cry.
(at least I do this... seems like it would be common for INFPs)
you know when you're an INFP when...
you see someone's cat sitting in a window sill so you begin to stare it down and switch on your angry face...you notice that your angry face made the cat switch on an angry face so you 2 continue to have a staring contest and then, out of nowhere, switch to a really happy face JUST TO SEE the cats reaction.
true story as well
(you're also an INFP if things like these makes your day)
You know you're an INFP when you are contemplating the meaning of life, find the answer to it all, see something shiny move in the corner of your eye, and then completely lose whatever you were thinking about because you have to investigate the shiny thing.
when you're telling a story with details and your conversation partner gives you a blank stare/no response. then they accuse of being arrogant when you tell them how ignorant they are.
...you get really happy when people thank you for your post, because you wrote something that others could relate to and you love the feeling of having things in common with others because it makes other people and yourself happy!!
...
• you go through the day extremely upset about something terrible you did the night before and you wonder if you are just imagining it all then SUDDENLY you remember it was dream from last night and huge amount of relief washes all over you.
• you fume when some stranger says, "smile! it's not that bad."
• you become upset when a movie gets how you imagined something in a book "completely wrong."
I've also leaped out of bed in the morning ready to pulverize my roommate for something she did, only to realize by the time I got to the door that it was a dream.
And the "smile, it's not that bad!" thing is awful. Especially if I AM having a good day, because then I feel like I must look unhappy even though I'm perfectly okay. Sometimes I'm just "inside" myself but perfectly happy.
Also, let's not talk about the Harry Potter movies. My first date with my husband consisted of me pointing out all the inaccuracies in The Goblet of Fire.
Always. My husband and best friend both tease me for my inability to tell a good story.
Also, you know you're an INFP when:
You go to Petsmart and feel so bad for all the Beta fish in their tiny tubs of water that you feel the need to buy them all (and only your funds keep you from doing so).
You walk by horse & buggy tours and feel SO bad for the poor horses' hooves on the pavement all day that you vow never to ride in a horse & buggy.
A homeless guy asks for your leftovers and it startles you so badly that you just keep walking, and then for the rest of the day feel like an absolute miser. Then, although it's been over four hours by the time you get home, and probably not a good idea to keep the leftovers, you reheat them and eat them anyways just so you don't have to feel even worse about the food you COULD have given to the homeless guy.
You know you're an INFP when you find yourself starring at your longtime pet dog and wondering if they can understand everything on the level of humans but just can't speak. Then you feel guilty for having ignored them for so long and start talking to them...
...apologizing for all the times you've forgotten to feed them
...left them out in the rain
...or not let them outside to explore nature and others their age
...and then getting quite teary-eyed yourself and wondering what it's like to be a poor dog with no way to communicate your inner feelings and desires, and being doomed to eat the same decrepit food day after day...
...only to look up and realize everyone's looking at you...
You know you're an INFP when you eat the less nice looking piece of fruit just so it doesn't feel hurt
... when you watch cars go past and think "Wow... so many lives.... I wonder where they're going... I wonder if they want to go where they're going.... WHY CAN'T WE ALL JUST LIVE IN THE MOUNTAINS AS NOMADS!?"
Lol! I eat the fruit in my house according to it's shelf life, because I feel terrible throwing it away. I'll eat the mealy apple, the mushy banana, or the dry orange if I have to.
...if you've ever lost glasses that were sitting on your head.
...you've ever felt sorry for a boarded up or poorly-cared-for house.
...you go to home-improvement stores and feel sorry for the plants in the little pony-pack cases that have been pulled out of the earth.
...you've ever sat really close to a TV made before the year 2000 just to look at all of the little tri-color blocks that make up the picture.
...your thoughts have a soundtrack, jump cuts, and other special effects.
...you've ever walked into a dark room and imagined something lurking in the air in front of you, then, even after you were in bed, continued the train of thought until an entire narrative story had been played out in your mind, even though thinking about it scared you to death.
...you ever let a parent win at Candy Land so they wouldn't feel bad.
Out of all the things mentioned in this thread, this is the only one that made me think "I thought I was the only person in the world to do that"! roud:
...when you regularly use the term "organized chaos" to explain the condition of your car/bedroom
There should be a thread like this in the ENFP section!
I'm gonna make it!
You know you're an ENFP when...? I gotta think of what to put in the first post...
...you firmly believe world peace is attainable...?
You are in intense zoned-out mode and it takes people calling your name 100 times then coming over and shaking your shoulders to get your attention. Then you listen to half of what they say before slipping into that zoned-out mode again.
hahhahahaha that's EXACTLY what happens to me. People take it personally and think I ignore them sometimes so sometimes I have to be extra friendly afterwards to get them to realise I didn't 'ignore' them on purpose..and yes I've done it so many times that I now know how to spot those people who took it personally!
You spend 15 minutes trying to help a Roley Poly that got flipped over on it's back...it takes so long because every time you try to help it...the little bugger curls up into a ball again. So you stare at it...and wait...then try to help it flip over again.
Oh my God! I used to do that when I was a kid!...not meant in offense, I loved doing it, but I haven't sought out roley polies in a while...I think I'll do that tomorrow...I used to find a lot in our drive way hehe
I swear I love thos little boggers!
You get into 3 fender benders in a week and have to explain to people you don't remember how it happened.
And in the same week you lose your phone and your best friend who is an INFP loses their wallet in the same day.
Also, you know you're an INFP when you're on a road trip and you complain about how it's too cold, how you have to pee so bad, and how you're hungry.
you know you're an INFP when you were about to post something to this thread but then deleted it because you thought that nobody would thank you for it or relate to it
I know this is totally unrelated to the topic but...me an my cousin called them "guests" because when they rolled up we would put them in the holes [nests] of ground wasps.
This is an older thread, you may not receive a response, and could be reviving an old thread. Please consider creating a new thread.
