Lesson N1 for the NTP on How to appear normal:

Do not share what is in your head :)

A: Yes, I would. Want to add a poll :) Sounds like an interesting topic :)

@redmanINTP
There is no point ... NTPs are clearly crazy. An ENTP started the How would you feel if your genitals dsappeared? thread. And you started this one. OK ...

LOL! Yes, yes, "I have this friend . . ." :wink:

Actually, a Facebook friend of mine responded to someone's (a non-friend's) status regarding this issue, so it came up in my list. Hilarious that someone put this out there on Facebook- can't believe what people put up sometimes. I mean, if he decides to date her, what's the introduction to his friends and family going to be like? "Hi, I'd like you all to meet Typhoid Mary . . ."

Of course, it could well be a joke - God knows most of the responses are . . .

I would date them, unless by date you mean do something sexual, in which case I wouldn't.
That's the point, though. This is someone you REALLY like. Assuming of course that your relationship with them only reinforced that this person was incredibly compatible and attractive to you, would you nevertheless date them with the intention of never having sex with them?

I probably would. If this person is incredibly compatible and attractive to me, and we both really like each other, then yes. It would depend on how much they wanted sex, though, because it would be likely that their sex drive would be higher than mine.

No, I wouldn't. I don't want herpes. Basically I'm aware of how infatuation and such creates some illusion of 'oh we are going to be together forever' and then something stupid might happen. It would really suck after the brain chemistry and hormones stabilize, and you aren't that into em anymore.. then you might carry around his herps. So no. I'd just hold out until I found someone I was emotionally flitterpatted by who didn't have an incurable std.

I'm assuming you mean genital herpes because about 80 to 90% of the population has a form of herpes, which usually is oral herpes (cold sores). Genital herpes is HSV-2, a different strain. You can contract HSV-2 as oral herpes and you can also get HSV-1 on your genitals. I know people will try and refute me but you can have HSV-1 or HSV-2 and never have an outbreak. Shingles and chicken pox are also a form of herpes, but most people aren't educated on it.

I was just about to say this. More than likely, you have herpes already. You probably wouldn't even have an outbreak because visible outbreaks only happen to like 35% of those affected. Most people catch it when they're little from their parents, or in their teens years, but by the time you're 50 80+% of population has it in one form or another. So it really shouldn't matter.

I would take the normal precautions. No sexual contact during an outbreak, but it wouldn't matter.

And even then, there is viral shedding which can infect the partner without a visible outbreak. But it's highly unlikely. I know a lot about this because I too received HSV-1 (cold sores) from my mother. It's very likely that all of my siblings carry it, including my father. My mother and I are the only ones who have outbreaks. People often don't experience it so they have no idea how irritating herpes can be.

I researched it because I thought that I had contracted it from a friend. Either a) I didn't b) I'm asymptomatic or c) I've always had it and I'm asymptomatic

You can always get an STI/STD test to see if you carry it. I've educated myself on it because of oral herpes and how contagious it is. I don't want to give it to any partners so I wanted to be as educated as possible on the topic. I'd rather not rely on ignorance to keep me safe, I think most people should learn about it.

Yeah I suppose. I dont really think I have it, but it wouldn't hurt to check. Being asymptomatic and all, I dont really have much of a way to know when I'm most susceptible to spread it. I dont think either of my parents have it, but I became quite the little drunk makeout whore for a brief period in time so it's really not out of the question.

No. However, if I had herpes and met the girl of my dreams, I would wear a ski mask and sexually assault her in a park, thus giving her herpes, so that she could only settle for dudes that already HAD herpes, and then I would make myself available to her and be sympathetic about her condition and she would be so happy that she found someone accepting of it and we would be together forever and she would never know.

The woman of my dreams wouldn't have herpes...

This is pure ISTP. Clicking on your profile just validated something I already knew.

You are right of course. Ne needs some reins sometimes.

@Therapist
i like how you think. I hope I don't have a daughter you fall in love with. :)

Yes, there are precautions that can be taken....I researched it awhile back.

Also, I think the trade off of herpes would be well worth it if you found someone that you could be genuinely happy with for the rest of your life. If that's the worst thing about them, you're golden.
