Is society getting better or worse?

I continue to hear of social decline in our world and in particular societies: the breakdown of families, moral values, globalization, you name it.

    I'm not nearly as pessimistic.

First of all, there is greater democracy and freedom in the world today than in past centuries. Slavery of an outright nature has diminished. People are also better connected culturally. There are problems with globalization, but societies are starting to deal with the effects of that. There are still social problems and inequalities in the world, there are still problems with modern society, but socially and politically, I think of people being better off.

Secondly, if there is a God in the world, is he less caring about one century compared to another? Does he just allow problems to get worse? or is he always the same caring God that he was?

Better or worse? Where is the world going?

Society can be better with one thing and worse with another. I don't think it's better or worse than any other time period, the problems are just different from before.

    It is all relative, friend.

"Democracies" are rapidly turning into Police States that favor corporations. Slavery is alive and kicking. Things will get worse, MUCH worse, before they get any better.

If society collapse I wouldn't care, or care as much. Although people living in urban settings will probably suffer the most compared to rural areas. I think it'd be fun in a way, everyone fighting for their own survival. Everyone will just revert back to where before humans developed government and various complex hierarchies, living as nomads or hunter and gather. Hmm that sounds like a movie.

I don't want to say I'm going to enjoy seeing you hungry, scared, and running from gangs of men that will take their turn raping every orifice of your body, before bludgoening you to death with a rock, cutting you up in pieces, cooking and eating you.

    ...fun times ^_^

On the account of society however...

I think a natural equilibrium exists and tends to instate itself. It is true that large corporations and government are PUSHING for a method of control, because they fear their institution will be threatened. In the same sence, they are pioneering their own destruction, because revolution is easy for a nation that no longer tolerates it's bonds.

As with everything, there is tolerance that mediates. The right push on the wrong button will institute, or destroy said governance, be it international or domestic.

I like what china is doing...they are bringing the illuminati meat grinder to a halt, and the cold war arms race is hotter than ever.
...like a virus...spreading and populating in small pockets worldwide, and little is it known, but as resources go, china IS authority.

So whilst the globalizers bicker over control, I sit back and enjoy my trivial thoughts..
...and I take comfort in knowing my end with be either horrifying or quick...

    ...but most importantly..
    entertaining :)

Oh yes that sounds like fun...I'm not afraid of dying so whatever. What I'm saying is, after all that raping and killing stuff is over, man will likely to revert back to being farmers and/or hunters and gathers and the cycle of civilization starts again.

The grass is always greener eh? I agree, the society we live in is probably one of the most accepting ones, EVER. However, the thing I don't like about this generation, is we live in the information age, where we are turning into sloths who sit around all day absorbing lots and lots of information. Eventually we are all going to evolve into Krang from the teenage mutant ninja turtles.

I would hate for the dear children of the emerging generation to destroy themselves this way.

I take it' you haven't had the prospect of a nullifying darkness, or the concept of everlasting life, everlasting torture, or being re-incarnated as a pompious asshole cross your mind yet?

And I'm not talking suicide...I'm talking waking up as paramedics instruct you to sit perfectly still, as they try and cut your mangled body out of a car, where your dear friend next to you is missing a third of his upper torso, and the guy that was driving the other car stares back at you blankly, his body now white, and his jaw well dislocated.

Oh, anyways, yeah I also hope that after civilisation ends we might strive to re-enstate something like the Venus Project have been talking about.

Going back to the medi-evil times, one had to have a trade, passed down by generation.
We are entirely helpless for the most part.

    Allthough...a nice notion.
    ...indeed.
