Doing anything for the end of the world?

I, for one, do not believe in the Mayan end of the world ordeal, so I'm making my rounds betting the poor, afraid people who do, and getting said bets signed in ink.

Anybody else have preparations or plans?

Not really. However, I might choose that day as Christmas family time, and go back to the parents house; where there is plenty of food, land, guns and ammunition.

I don't believe the Mayans predicted the 'end of the world'. Their calendar running out just means that this period of time has happened. I don't think there is anything else to it. The Mayans are no longer around as far as I know, so they just haven't been able to create new calendars.

People do not know the future. That can make us feel uncertain. Some of us want more control; they cannot stomach not being certain. Therefore, rites were thought up; rituals that would supposedly predict the future. We know of course, that our throwing dice, chicken bones or tarot cards do not influence the natural world - but we like to believe they do. Basic superstition, it is.

I am fond of preparing for disasters anyway, but I am more worried about the economy, the middle east, the US election and so on, much, much, more than I am the Mayan calendar...

    ;)
