    Commercials

Advertisements when they work are something that are supposed to be catchy enough to persuade consumers to buy the product, and then gracefully fade from the public mind. But not all commercials are graceful, in fact a lot are just diabolically annoying. What are some of the commercials that you grew up with that left a lasting impression for better or worse? And what trends have you noticed in commercials over the years?

^ As a kid I always found these hideously obnoxious. I think this is what made me hate coffee from a young age.

Sorta off topic because the commercial was never officially aired, but IMO it's the best commercial ever. Almost good enough to make me want to buy an xbox. and I'm a Sony fanboy.

I love that commercial! It's so cute.

I feel like commercials are getting more and more clever.

Yeah, I think that a lot of the gaming commercials have gotten a lot more creative recently. I've actually been enjoying the PS3 ads when I see them:

^ such bad stereotypes in that one though, lol. "thanks for coming" haha.

Hah, I'm glad I'm not the only one that has the Crossfire theme randomly pop into their mind. And I find those Red Stripe commercials to be hilarious. Makes me want to go back to Jamaica.

And here is the Billy Murray spoof on the Suntory Whiskey ad; taken from Lost in Translation:

Anyone remember, or otherwise see the irony today, of Apple Computer's "1984" commercial?
