It wasn't me on the receiving ending. It wasn't even me who paid the 'complement'. I met a guy who is a 4 and right of the bat without much of a social warm-up he said 'they told me that I'm fake'. I have never seen that guy in our group again. Someone hit the nail on the head.

"If you go on like this, it will be the end [of your life]" -parents

Even though this refers to my passive attitude to life in general, I took this insult very personally.

"Your input is bull****, you put in a lot of hours but nothing substantial can be made of it. Your presentations are ****."

I received praise from the Prof for properly dealing with the topic and we got an excellent grade, but I am still mad about it. She expects criticism to be sugarcoated whereas she throws criticism like a literal brick at peoples' faces. Happened two months ago, and I am still angry about it. To the point that my productivity has reached an absolute low.

That comment came from someone who summarized stuff for a university assignment while I poured sixteen hours into answering a task over the weekend - calculations, procuring real reference data, discussing matters with an expert who worked in this field for 40 years.

Damn, that sounds super annoying AND insulting. I hope you got a better grade than her. I would have criticised her back. People like her who think themselves like they're some sort of big shot need to be roasted.

Thank you, I appreciate your comment. We actually all get the same grade, so this form of behavior is nonsense in my opinion.

I also worked with other groups and sometimes people cannot deliver properly. Still, I will not shoot myself in the leg by overtly criticizing them as it does not do any good. Bad mood and hate only complicates collaboration and we cannot be narcissist/too individualistic in such contexts. Even I as a four realize that. I seriously consider freelancing now, you can be independent and productive without the power games/manipulation aspect of the job.But that's the way of the world I guess, complaining won't help.

I'm happy to know I could lift your spirits up, even just a little bit. The fact that you're hurting from someone else's nonsense really makes me want to confront the other person for doing something totally unreasonable. They really had no reason to pick a fight with you, especially when you were all in the same group, smh.

Hmm, I can see where you're coming from with that sort of thinking. "Hate breeds more hate" and you certainly have the patience to not let yourself become overly agitated by the other person. But I worry what would happen when your endless patience runs out? I mean, everyone has a breaking point, and I feel like by not saying anything, you're shouldering a lot by yourself. :(

You see, I'm too passionate to stay quiet. As a 5, I'm known to look aloof and cold-hearted but I really am sensitive (to a degree). So for me, if I tell them head-on that I do not approve such display of behavior and will not tolerate it that I am being criticized with no substantial evidence other than opinionated facts, then I firmly believe they will shut up. It catches them off-gaurd because they don't really expect to be talk-backed, and more or less they don't come picking a fight again. Of course, I won't criticize them too much because that would make me look like the villain. Just enough so that it looks like I'm defending myself, thats all.

And I'm not persuading you to be like me or anything either! I think your way of life is a very mature way of dealing with others. Sorry if I seemed that way. We 5's aren't that good in saying things in a way that would make others seem comfortable since we tend to say things without a filter

I just.......hope that if you have any problems, you talk to them to somebody to make yourself feel better. And have a friend to stick up for you! If I was there, I would definitely defend you, even if you tried to pull me away to calm me, I would still pick a fight lol.

    Good luck!
Freelancing is certainly a struggle, but if you're passionate about your goals, you can do it!

And complaining to a friend is helpful! It is, I swear! You can complain here if you want! I will take a while to reply, but I will gladly hear you out! Don't bottle your voice....
