Most difficult video games you have played

I am talking about the video games which were actually very good but happen to have this insane difficulty level that you have to actually practise it a number of times to clear a level

I can remember two titles at the top of my head, both belonging to Sega Mega Drive

I was able to finish Comix Zone, but I used cheats (invincibility) ... without cheats, it was even difficult for me to clear the first level ... secondly the game had a number of frustrating glitches as well and it freezes at a number of places.

The Adventures of Batman and Robin was frustrating as hell, coz I tried to play that game when I was in fourth grade and I had no clue whatsoever how to play it... I gave it another shot when I was in the seventh grade, and with the help of my cousin ... we were actually able to finish the game. Even though it took us around two weeks of nearly continuous play and it was frustrating as hell, but it pushed me towards playing it solo as well and now I can finish the game pretty easily.

Halo Combat Evolved on Legendary. Those twitchy little grunt bastards were like spec ops commandos that underwent 1000+ of combat training. Still eventually managed to complete it.

Commandos 3. Not a huge fan of games like this but man was it was intense to try and outwit the AI. Though eventually it happened and man were those wins satisfying.

Took me a few hours and the door opening noise is forever etched in my soul, but I still got it. xD

I think all the Commandos game were painstakingly hard ... ( but still fun to play though ).

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles on the NES. It's nearly 30 years later and I still have Vietnam style flashbacks. Only ever play that game if you hate yourself.

As for something a little more modern, the Uncharted remasters on Brutal difficulty are just stupid. Enemies are so efficient with their shooting that they don't even have to have actually spawned to kill you. It's almost impossible to complete without using the one shot kill/infinite ammo glitch.

My colleagues tried to get me into Starcraft and Warcraft 3 but I admittedly don't play many strategy games. I like survival video games, particularly those in the sci-fi and horror genre, for the manner in which they are set to deliver an original story. Until Dawn stressed me a bit at first due to the butterfly effect that makes your judgment on basic decisions to follow drastic consequences (the gore and the horror is sweet, though, particularly if you fancy being cleaved in half by a tottering psychopath). Shadow of Chernobyl and ArmA 2 (they have bugs but I get shot and die one too many times) are worth mentioning too.

    Try this. One word: devilish.

And don't forget to heed the Doctor's advice: Don't. Blink. Blink and you're dead. They are fast. Faster than you can believe. Don't turn your back. Don't look away. And don't blink. Good luck.
