    Your first gaming memories

What was your first console/computer games? What do you remember fondly? What do you remember playing in spite of itself?

I started with PC games with the beeper speaker sounds: Funhouse, Muppet Carnival Adventures (if that's the right name), Pacman (booter floopy disk). I got an NES next and played mario of course, but actually beat Captain Skyhawk and Roadblasters.

My first strong memory of a game was playing crash bandicoot at a friends. I never owned a PlayStation when I was a kid though. Missed out on a lot.

My first console was Xbox. So my fondest memories were of Halo and Jet Set Radio Future.

OK, so I skipped the gameboy. Pokémon Yellow and Tetris were my most played games. But they never impacted me like Xbox did.

This is always fun to look back on. I remember playing The Yukon Trail as a kid on my dad’s *fancy computer* and loving it. Then I got super into the Nancy Drew PC games because I was a huge fan of the Nancy Drew book series (and mystery novels in general).

My parents didn’t let us kids have consoles of any kind for awhile until my younger brother finally got a used gameboy advance and then we eventually each had a Nintendo DS and played a ridiculous amount of LEGO Star Wars and MarioKart multiplayer.

But to this day, I mainly play PC adventure games.

There were almost no computers or consoles in my early childhood. I played River Raid for Atari once or twice at a classmate's house... this must have been around '86 or '87 and that was pretty much it until ~1990. That's when I started gaming regularly: I bought an NES, several of my friends had an NES as well, and I played C64 and PC games at my neighbors' place. Some games I remember fondly from that period are Super Mario Bros, Duck Hunt, Commander Keen, Tetris, Secret of Monkey Island, LifeForce and Mike Tyson's Punch Out.

    Pokemon Blue
    Earthworm Jim
    Descent: Freespace
    Starcraft
    Baldur's Gate
Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time
    Yoshi's Story
    Tetris
    Something like that.

Ratchet and Clank was the first game I really played. I used to jump and down on my bed when I played. Back in the good old days when video games were actually fun and not monotonous.

I also played Star Wars JK2 Jedi Outcast and Galatic Battlegrounds on PC all the time.

Being six-years-old and hearing my character drown was the scariest thing. There was thrill. It was like playing Outlast.

Raptor was awesome, I played it again a few years back and couldn't complete it ...

I'm not sure if I ever got past the second level. My mom told me I was 2 years old when I first started playing video games, sitting on her lap and letting her play if it became too scary/intense for me (after explaining to her how to play). So obviously I didn't have the best hand-eye coordination yet. Also, English isn't my native language, so I'm glad that the older games had pretty much no text and a very intuitive UI and gameplay.
