Story of the new 'Modern Warfare'?

So what exactly is it supposed to be? I heard controversy about it in regards to the possibility that it could involve the alt-right as an enemy faction in Europe (Or satellite one)?

Seriously, CoDs must stop already. Those guys released so many games and ran out of ideas, so they tried to make up some and it's been a bullshit. They can only milk the series so far.

Yet another game no one really asked for. Seriously, pretty much every modern AAA shooter is the same shit again, again and again. I played CoDs, Battlefields, Doom. They all are pretty much the same. Let's take CoD as baseline:
BF - identical to it in almost everything, but recoil system is slightly different
Doom - very similar, but strategy is to be as little in the cover and just be full on offense all the time

These things only have updated animations, updated graphics and that's it. Most of the gameplay is actually the same, hell even story is mostly the same. Those games have zero value, yet they exist.

I remember, when people were saying that CoD WW2 was a bad game. I just couldn't understand why. It was basically the same as any other CoD, but had little bit more story elements. The story was generic, just like any other CoD, yet people reacted badly to it. To me it felt just like another CoD, but this time gameplay had some new elements (new for CoD series, not for games in general). It didn't feel like a failure, but it was a little bit stale, just like any other CoD.

I kinda miss days, when fps games were competitive and didn't look like kindergarten bullshit (looking at you Overwatch/Fortnite) and offered unique controlling style. Quake, UT, Serious Sam, Counter Strike 1.6, they all had their own style, they played differently and all required skills. But under the hood, they all had different feeling. Quake had slippery feeling and boosted jumps if you are smooth. UT had nice scifi atmospheres, one of the most satisfying weapons and overall fast pacing. Serious Sam put you into rush, as you had to deal with hordes of enemies. Counter Strike, felt more like a simulator.

Probably the dumbest shit in modern fps games is unnecessary realism. Slow reloading, gun jamming, recoil and other shit doesn't make game actually more enjoyable to play and in games like CoD or BF, you don't expect them to be simulators. So why add some dumb elements of realism? Well this complaint doesn't really work out for CoD or BF game, because they are war games, which you should play relaxed, but it applies to many other fps games.

Another thing about fps games is that they have easily forgettable OSTs. None of them have great and kickass soundtracks, that makes your adrenaline levels to rise. Not many games in the past nailed that well, but it seems like no one even tries now. Also, if you can't make it like that, then at least nail atmospheric OST. Here's an example of what good OST looks like:

I doubt they would put something like this in. If they do, it will be dumb. No way they're going to be able to pull that off well.

I'm just glad it's going to have cross-platform play and it's Modern Warfare and it will have a campaign!

If this was any other Call of Duty game coming out I would agree, but it's another Modern Warfare.
The multiplayer didn't make Modern Warfare 1, 2 and 3 great, but the story did.

The characters are the best in the series and they always come up with sweeping and epic campaigns for the Modern Warfare games.

If this was Black Ops... 4... 5? I couldn't agree more, but the Modern Warfare games have been consistently good.

I've stopped buying Battlefield games because they have stopped focusing on the story. BF Bad Company 1 and 2, BF 3 and 4 all had great campaigns, now it's all about the multiplayer. If they announced a new Battlefield with a complete campaign story, I'd be all in.

You're right. There are a lot of people who are only buying this because it's a new Call of Duty and that's just what people do now.
But I think that a lot of people who gave up on CoD will be coming back for this one because it has a campaign and a Modern Warfare campaign at that.

I saw nothing special about story at all and really games like Call of Duty aren't played for a good story. Pretty much after CoD 1 and 2 CoD lost anything that made it unique and it became just another "shoot the bad guys" game. If you want story, you are looking at the wrong genre. If story is important to you, then try Spec Ops The Line. It destroys any CoD there. If you want a good game about wiping out the bad guys and have a great story, then look at Sleeping Dogs and Yakuza 0, they are the real hidden gems.

    I wouldn't agree there.

The story in BF4 was average at best. Nothing special about it. Anyway, you don't buy shooting/military games to get a good story.

I'm not sure about that, CoD and BF fans are very unreasonable. They are almost the same as football fans. Aggressive, unreasonable and have no taste. I personally found nothing wrong with CoD WW2, it was just an average Call of Duty game, pretty much like every other in the series. Yet look at how people responded to it, they wanted to burn it in flames. Now let's take CoD MW3, it was absolutely monotonous game, there was really nothing special about it and people pretty much crowned it as GOTY. Now let's take for example some experimental games like Ghosts and Advanced Warfare and people were mostly confused about them. They neither hated them, neither loved them. And almost nothing truly changed in all of these games, instead of locations and storylines. No matter how average CoD will be, people will still buy it.
    Folsom thanked this post.

Yes, easy kills then, I personally don't have reason to complain here xD

    But anyway:

Just gotta say man, this is the most immersive and most realistic and well done animations I've ever seen, not even Battlefield managed to reach such level.
