I see you both didn't pick Mass Effect 3 as your favourite, even though you both mentioned 1 and 2. Did you hate the ending that much?

Personally, Mass Effect 3 was definitely my second choice. The only reason XCOM won is because I got somewhat obsessed with it for a bit.

Interesting choice. Did you play through all of the endings yourself? What about it made it better than any other games from the same year?
TBH this was a shallow year for me. By this time I stopped being current with consoles/pc hardware. Rogue Legacy would be my #2 . However the narrator is fantastic and anybody who's failed as a DM for a tabletop RPG can feel the narrator's struggle.

I wasn't a fan of the later games though, they just felt like a copypaste to me and I really missed friend areas.
I played one of the Mystery Dungeons, but either I gave up too quickly or I played one without friend areas.

    Spore's great! You crazy!
You have no idea how excited I was for Spore. I followed the entire development, watched all the trailers and early gameplay videos, played around with the Creature Creator when it first came out for hours and when I finally got the game, it turned out they had scrapped all of the game mechanics I was looking forward to. Instead, I got 4 mini games and a grind fest.

At least I learned not to follow early development for games and not to buy a game until I've seen reviews, or I know I will want to play it anyway.

Right, that makes sense. And I agree that the narrator is absolutely fantastic.

Woah, Spore predicted modern phone games (minus microtransactions)

Honestly, the gameplay is not that much more complex than any decent mobile game nowadays.

I'm not sure what years exactly I started playing those favorite of mine games (Maybe I"m just lazy and want to share my favorite games), but I'll list them in order from which game I started playing from first to last.

    - MDK 2 (It is a truly memorable classic for me, I still have the disk with me even today lol)
    - Serious Sam the first encounter (Demo version, classic)
    - Unreal Tournament 2004 (One of the most addicting games that I played up to like 2015 I think)
    - Spore (Also a heck addicting game, someone needs to make a sequel!)
    - Serious Sam 2 (Even though it was very fun game, but I liked the classic much more)
    - Serious Sam the first encounter (full game, classic)
    - Serious Sam the second encounter (Classic)
    - C&C Red Alert 3 (Bought to me by my mom on my 9th or 10th birthday (I don't remember), and boy how that game was addicting, even though I was asked for Renegade because my child brain thinked it was called Red alert, but nevertheless I played the hell out of Red alert 3 up to like 2017 from where I was switching to a new more powerful computer, and unfortunately the disk seem be broken and not working anymore.)
    - Unreal Tournament 3
    - Darkorbit
    - Crysis Wars (First ever trying to play a large scaled multiplayer game when we got ourselves some proper internet connection lol, good'ol 2010 xD, enjoyed the hell out of the game until the shutdown of gamespy, same goes for Red alert 3 by the way)
    - C&C Renegade (Yeah, I was late to that train since I started to play it like in 2010 by downloading a pirated version lol)
    - Battlestar Galactica Online
    - Serious Sam the first encounter (HD version)
    - Roblox (Played it till I became 14 or 15 in terms of age, as much people hate it, but I can easily tell that Roblox, well how it was back in 2010, was more fun and more enjoyable than most games you find nowadays.)
    - Serious Sam the second encounter (HD version)
    - Serious Sam 3
    - Battlefield 4 (I hated it at first without playing it for no reason because I liked crysis more and thought stupid stuff like Battlefield is a ripoff of crysis 2, my mind changed once I played it, this is how I became an obsessed fan of all that modern military stuff)

Yeah, after that I don't remember finding any other games that I consider to be my favorite. I might tried Elsword in 2017, even though I know it is an old 2006 game, so me pretty much joining this late was beating a dead horse, plus I didn't really enjoy the annoying "Tsundere" trope (Eve if you don't know) humor, I didn't like the boobs/fanservice crap being thrown in randomly and I generally didn't really enjoy the art style.
