Please help me in my enneagram type and wing

I'm sorry but english is not my most favourite language, even though I understand it well I'm having a hard time with writing in english.

Started a thread a few months ago, but was not feeling very well at that time. Today I take another try. Please type me or tell me your thoughts.

    1. What would you say to a 5-year-old child if he or she asked you what the purpose of life is?
Purpose of life is to become highly flexible in mind and able to understand everything in life what happens to you.
Get to know yourself is to know your environment.

    2. What type of advice would you give that same child on how to survive in this world?
Don't get upset, try to understand and don't stay in unhealthy environments.
Being angry is not going to get you anywhere.

    3. If you were told you only had one year to live from today, and it was 100% guaranteed that you would die exactly 1 year from now, what would you do in that year? Note: Your health will be fine all the way up to the end.
I probably would read books on death to be well prepared in a year.... haha.
Or maybe I wouldn't read anything and start get involved again in interacting more with animals. Would love to get to know dogs better, especially Dobermanns.

    4. Why aren't you doing this now?
Because I have no opportunity to have a dog as pet. I don't want to feel sad about it.

    5. What are your defense mechanisms? i.e. When you start to feel uncomfortable or anxious about a situation, what do you generally start to do?
    1. I'm paralysized oder panic internally
    2. I start to search in the internet
    3. inform myself how to do better in the next time

    OR
    1. I try to laugh and joke it away, being pretty hectic
    2. secretly prepare for another situation like that
    3. finding a greater sense behind it

    6. What does your heart feel like it needs and wants? What does your head say it needs and wants? What does your body say it needs and wants?
    heart:
I want and need someone to chat all day with, one heart just like me would be great, wanting a simple life, no big issues to deal with
    head:
I want to be informed about everything, I need good informational sources
    body:
"I miss good rough ice hockey, let's play it again."

    7. What condition is your heart in right now? What condition is your mind in right now? What condition is your body in right now?
my heart feels fluttery, not at home.
the head is in a searching mode, finally the internet got fixed today, yay! (Feels a bit anxious though as I trying to write something about myself....)
body likes to get around places more often, to much being at home since vacation.

    8. What are your predominant faults?
acting either over-impulsive and not very mature or the opposite
    being very impatient
    I worry very much

    9. Think of a time when you felt at ease and connected to yourself and others. What did you think about yourself, others, and the entire world during this time?
I simply feel nothing on myself and about others. I just feel what's current like there are no borders or 'yours' and 'mine'. It's being flexible and open to everything the world offers. Just knowing what to do and everything just matches.

    10. Think of a time when you felt anxious and disconnected from yourself and others. What did you think about yourself, others, and the entire world during this time?

I hardly think at all, I'm just so nervous that I somehow move and feel that I'm constantly stepping on peoples feet or don't move at all. Others seem to be ungracious and unfair and the world seems to be just one materialistic place without a greater sense.

    11. What is an addiction or urge that seems to drive you almost as if you’re not in control? Almost like an alien force that drives or pushes you down.
It's to act like a very childish person or a extremely introverted person not saying anything at all.

    12. What do you need in your life to face your fears?
The right information, a good plan made up by myself and the strength to execute.
I need to be more direct, wiser, calmer.
    "Being a real man!"... yeah.

Does this make any sense at all? I think my answers are pretty chaotic.
    Thanks for reading.

I have a bias against this questionnaire, so let's hope you prove me wrong with your answers! =P

Get to know yourself is to know your environment.
Mmm. There is a focus on knowledge as a means to understand how the environment affects you. I'm thinking type 6.

    2. What type of advice would you give that same child on how to survive in this world?
Don't get upset, try to understand and don't stay in unhealthy environments.
Being angry is not going to get you anywhere.
Eh, I'd be grasping at straws if I tried to make anything of this. :|

Aha! Prepared, yes, hello type 6, pleased to meet you.

    4. Why aren't you doing this now?
Because I have no opportunity to have a dog as pet. I don't want to feel sad about it.
Again, this is not indicative of type. :|

    5. What are your defense mechanisms? i.e. When you start to feel uncomfortable or anxious about a situation, what do you generally start to do?
    1. I'm paralysized oder panic internally

    3. finding a greater sense behind it
Woah. I'm pretty confident you're a phobic 6, I seriously can't see anything else here. Not sure about the wing, but I'm giving 5 a slight edge.

Yeah, remember how I said I'm giving 5 a slight edge? It's gone. You seem much more p6w7 here.

There's not much to go with here, if anything the "searching mode" does fit a type 6.

    8. What are your predominant faults?
acting either over-impulsive and not very mature or the opposite
    being very impatient
    I worry very much
Pretty much reinforces my p6w7 impression.

Intriguing answer, but it's too short and I'd have to make many assumptions to get anything out of it. :X

    Yes, you're a 6, I get it. xD

    11. What is an addiction or urge that seems to drive you almost as if you’re not in control? Almost like an alien force that drives or pushes you down.
It's to act like a very childish person or a extremely introverted person not saying anything at all.
Hello again 7 wing and type 6 in general.

    12. What do you need in your life to face your fears?
The right information, a good plan made up by myself and the strength to execute.
I need to be more direct, wiser, calmer.
    "Being a real man!"... yeah.
And again a focus on being prepared and having a plan, I'm pretty damn sure of my typing.

Does this make any sense at all? I think my answers are pretty chaotic.
    Thanks for reading.
Kudos to you for making your type so apparent to me through (what I consider to be) an inferior questionnaire! I'm pretty confident of typing you as a p6w7, but I have no clue what your variants are.

I highly recommend the Typewatch, Ocean Moonshine and Timeless' descriptions. I hope I helped!

Get to know yourself is to know your environment.
6w5s are known to hoard information out of insecurities to the possibilities.

    5. What are your defense mechanisms? i.e. When you start to feel uncomfortable or anxious about a situation, what do you generally start to do?
    1. I'm paralysized oder panic internally
    2. I start to search in the internet
    3. inform myself how to do better in the next time

    OR
    1. I try to laugh and joke it away, being pretty hectic
    2. secretly prepare for another situation like that
    3. finding a greater sense behind it
Yep, this just screams 6. The emphasis on thinking through matters to find practical solutions to avoid bad things happening

    6. What does your heart feel like it needs and wants? What does your head say it needs and wants? What does your body say it needs and wants?
    heart:
I want and need someone to chat all day with, one heart just like me would be great, wanting a simple life, no big issues to deal with
Sounds like 6w7 and their attachment to people.

    head:
I want to be informed about everything, I need good informational sources
Trust issues as is typical of 6s.

    8. What are your predominant faults?
acting either over-impulsive and not very mature or the opposite
    being very impatient
    I worry very much
Yes, insecure worrying as I've mentioned. You sound incredibly 6w7 in your lifestyle, and I'm certain this is your wing more than wing 5.

Strong conscience is caused by feeling for people since you also have strong feelings of loyalty towards others. This is typical of a superego type (1, 2, and 6).

I just emphasized the parts which I thought made a point of some sort of typing, and they all happened to talk about 6 by chance... It all sounded like that of a 6 outside of the more telling signs as well.

    Conclusion: 6w7, probably SP/SX

This free chart is a great place to start in understanding the Enneagram types.
TypeWatch and Timeless are my most trusted sources.
This site is pretty reliable as well theenneagram...info from the underground

If you take issue with differences in the Enneagram types then you're welcomed to look into the misidentification page or the other misidentification page written by Riso-Hudson (found under the PerC subforum articles also) to help you make sense of differences.

So, wow. Thank you two for your taken time to analyze my text. :)
I've read a little bit about 6w7 and the sp/sx. Sounds good so far. In addition I tried a online test and was typed a 4 sx. I must say, this also seems to fit. I like to write (in german though) and have a certain writing style which my prof for creative writing judged as 'addicted to originality'. But it's a shame, I can't show this with the english language. Also I spent years on finding my own drawing style which is not very common and on the other side I wanted to be good an anatomy (atleast having a clue about it, but a nice, weird style was more important)
Just like the 7 wing of the 6, I like to joke and create funny but also witty wordplays. What I don't like about the 6 is that this type doesn't seem to care much about originality, having an individual style, being special? Being different than others is something which is pretty fundamental in my life but I usually don't talk about it because mostly it's recognized by people in personal interaction.

I think I will try to do another questionnaire. Maybe you want to look it up again, then. :)

  6. #5

Well, another try. Would greatly appreciate a look on it.

    1. What do you think your life is about? What drives you in life? This can be something like a goal or a purpose, or anything else that comes to mind.

Well, I thought about an answer, but it's pretty hard, because there is nobody actually who is asking me this (haha, that's why I skipped this questionnaire at first). No intent from someone I could find out or analyze through voice or context, just this question wanting to know something so crucial from me. Maybe my life is about analyzing others without bringing myself in to the action. I don't like people who ask me stuff which is too personal and too complex to just tell in a few sentences. The real intimate info I only like to share with someone who seems to me like an interesting chat partner. But I'll try to tell more about me in this questionnaire.

    2. What were you like as a kid?
I was very introverted as a kid. Pretty secret and on my own, I even hid drawings from my mom. When nobody was at home, I listened to music on my dads stereo or played weird games like acting like a horse or a dog or inventing new horse breeds and stories about them or collected trading cards of dinosaurs. And yet, there are more things I never told anyone about, and might shouldn't.
On the other hand side I was an outsider in groups, sometimes even teased for being so calm or not typically interacting with others. Only with best friends I was very vital and temperamental.

    3. Describe your relationship with your parents. Does anything stand out about the way you interacted?
I often felt that I was separated from my parents or my dad was actually the child of my mum, taking away my place as the child in the family.

    4. What values are important to you? What do you hope to avoid doing or being?
    important:
being a good analyzer (but probably fail to analyze myself infront of others...)
    being creative and original
    being witty but humorous
being able to express myself the way I want

    hope to avoid:
    being ignored
being just another number on the screen (but maybe I am)
being caught in situations which overburden me
being too open to the wrong people

    5. Aside from phobias, are there any fears that characterized your childhood? Have they continued into the present day, or not, and if not, how have you dealt with them?
Unfortunatly there was domestic violence in our family. This caused me to be constantly on the watch for the atmosphere of my current environment and shutting the windows on the same time. I don't want people to hurt my inner self, when they may want to hurt my shell. Being very private and acting unimpressed by the 'storm' the people around me are causing, worked very well for me. But it also leaves me emotionally behind, I may be the joking guy but separated myself internally from the outer party and thinking about possible ways to escape.

    6.
a.) How do you see yourself?
    as a pessimistic person
b.) How do you want others to see you?
as a mysterious, deep, intelligent, humorous guy
c.) What do you dislike the most in other people?
I guess… people who can't be impressed, are not very thoughtful, aren't interesting somehow.

    7. Which habit do you most automatically act on? Rank the following habits from most to least automatic, on a scale of 1 (most) to 3 (least).
a.) Work for personal gain with more concern for self than for others. (1)
b.) Strive for a sense of tranquility in yourself and the world around you (2)
c.) Decide what is right for the betterment of something or someone else. (3)

    8. Where does the wandering mind take you? What provokes you?
It takes me to the joy of having secrets and fantasies or to a nice game of chess where I can express myself through a logical way of thinking. It takes me to books full of symbols to explore and logic concepts, I am provoked by people for who I can be helpful with my personal conclusions or I can sharp my own views on life on, becoming more calm inside myself. And sometimes my mind just wants a crazy ride with loads of funny moments and a lot of laughs, strangely I can do that totaly on my own. I like to talk to myself and sometimes forget that I'm in public where people could hear me. (Yes, I'm weird).

9.What makes you feel your best? What makes you feel your worst?
best: Having written a very atmospheric, well worded text (well, not in english). Having a deep bond and a nice conversation to someone. Being able to read, see or hear something what activates my fantasy. Having overlooked a situation and helped somebody through my own views of life.
worst: Being completely without anything to commit myself on. Having nothing to put my focus on, being in stressful situations where I don't know how to act or react. Being just a nobody, ignored and not listened to (but somehow this provides a protection as well).

    10. Let's talk about emotions. Explain what might make you feel the following, how they feel to you or how you react to the emotion:
    a.) anger

I keep anger inside as long as I can when I'm with people I don't know well. But in a more personal interaction I tempt to be very direct and confrontative and vocal about my anger.

    b.) shame
Shame makes me want to escape from the situation which caused me feeling it. Shame is like acid to my personality since it comes from myself and I recognize that I cannot escape so easily from it by running away from others.

    c.) anxiety
I feel anxiety when somebody forces me to come out and take action while I don't know what to do. I would like to be spontaneous, but I'm mostly not in interaction with people and situations I don't know well, if that's the case I easily stress.

    11. Describe how you respond to the following:
    a.) stress
I respond by escaping or trying to make it look funny, informing myself after the stressful situation passed
    b.) negative unexpected change
    *paralyzes*
    c.) conflict
depends on who it is. With foreign persons I tempt to be rather quit and not really arguing back. With a very known person I'm pretty dominant and impulsive but still argumenting logical...

    12.
a.) What kind of role are you naturally inclined to take in a group? Why?

Mostly I'm the outsider who suddenly comes up with some good and unusual ideas. Sometimes I keep my ideas inside and just think "you stupids". Hehe. I'm often recognized as the aloof one.
I think I'm just a very weird thinker and it's not the best thing to execute unusual ideas in every project.

b.) If put in power, how do you behave? Why?
I hopefully behave stern, strict but fair. I think, good leadership is a balance between knowing to serve desires, hopes, wishes and being realistic at the same time.

c.) Do you tend to struggle with others who have authority over you? Why?
I struggle because that means to me that I'm not seen as an indidual but rather someone who has to take orders or must accept a forreign will above my own.
    13. What do you see or notice in others that most people don't?
I notice where they lack to be open and start to have expectations in my behaviour very quickly. Maybe it's also that I notice their intentions very soon just by few sentences or body language.
    14. Comment on your relationship with trust.
I can only trust myself and my analyzing skills. Whenever I'm trusting someone too much, it will become my task to find out why. If I trust myself completely I'm able to be very warm and friendly to others, serving them without any hatred

    15. Briefly: What religious and/or political beliefs do you have? Do you think they influenced your responses in this questionnaire?
I actually tried to answer this questionnaire very neutral. I wanted to give "pure" responses which are not influenced by something beyond myself.
But if I have to name an influence it would be these two quotes:

"Nature is busy creating absolutely unique individuals, whereas culture has invented a single mold to which all must conform. It is grotesque." (UG Krishnamurti).

"I maintain that Truth is a pathless land, and you cannot approach it by any path whatsoever, by any religion, by any sect." (J. Krishnamurti).

  7. #6

Maybe a 6w5 given how detached you are, but ya a 6 still.
