Not virtual. He gave examples. I agree a 6 or 1 is more a "helper" type and more likely to moderate. More peacemaker. To contribute. Like have stickies and shit. Be part of the system and contribute to the maintenance of the forum.

1 and 6 are both cooperative types and can find a niche within a place.

control over something more real. control over something physical (like resources) or that allows you greater ability to act in a certain way, especially if that means you no longer have to adhere to rules to ensure survival (for example, being the head of a company and not having to appease a boss). for the most part, being a forum moderator does little in this regard.

I think you are conflating 8 with Se.

I can be an 8, and desire to control what goes on in the background. My "environment" can be how things work, not what they look like.

Perhaps this would be more appropriate in another thread.

mbti and enneagram have weird overlaps. I noticed in your profile you identify as INTJ.

An INTJ would generally prefer folks come to them, rather than being ragingly extroverted like for example an ESFP.

So maybe the control stuff comes from one side, but the preference to be approached comes from the other.

Also, some people believe that trying to control everything or everyone in your immediate vicinity can be a bit frustrating.

I don't think there are any 6s in there or even have been for that matter. I actually don't pay that much attention to their enneagram so I could be wrong.

The mods have been picked and they accepted rather than striving for it too.

To me it was about being useful, giving back (PerC has helped me realise a lot about myself) and wanting to give people a voice in relative safety.

I realize we're not no the best of terms, but please stop responding to every one of my posts like you're about to scold me. it's incredibly petty and is getting to the point of disrespect. thank you

Couldn't it just be seen as moving against people vs moving towards them. 8s move against people. 6 and 1 move towards them. A moderator position is not for one to "move against" others. lol. To become a mod is like he/she said, you have to show some good citizenship or shit. Moving TOWARDS people. Towards people properly.

I've also read that 1 is the most objective type. Which would be good for a mod.

this is definitely supporting my case that you are correctly typed. overall you seem more Sp 9, but a lot of what you are saying is very Social 9 as well, so I could see either Sp/So or So/Sp

Bar work was ill suited to me. I was good at it but it was mentally draining. Talking for a living and being the PR for the joint was horrible in smaller bars (like listening to the same joke over and the same sad story over and over). I did better mentally on nightclub work though because I only really had to read lips, ignore the shitty music, and get it done. It was a reasonable wage too (US don't treat their hospitality staff half as well as they do here apparently).
