    Enneagram VS Tritype

Is it common for your tritype to not be your enneagram? Or is this even possible?

Because I'm a 9w8 and what I've come up with is 146. The 4 part stands out to me since on first glance you might mistake me for a 4, especially when I was younger. I am ok with the 1, since that is the opposite wing of my 9. My Head triad is quite weak, but I feel more of a 6 than a 5 or 7. Overall, the 'philosopher' archetype fits well.

Tritype tests and descriptions are terrible at determining your actual tritype

Other than reading about what the different types mean, and thinking about how I would classify others and how their personality compares to mine, do you have any suggestions on how I can learn my tritype?

If you are a type 9, your tritype should have a 9 in it.

I don't see how classifying other people would help you find your tritype at all.

My technique was to compare all three types in each triad to figure out which one I could relate to the most. Since you are type 9, your gut type has already been decided. So you would need to figure out a heart and head type only (if you used my technique).

That technique seems simple enough, thanks!

Looking into the 946 type right now, but what I've been reading seems to fit - especially the part about anxiety and doubt, heh. A philosopher is a type of seeker, so I can see how I might have been originally drawn to the 146.

I see tritype as being by far better than just going by core types. Like in my personal experience even though I am a 7 core I relate very little to say a 783 as apart from the common 7 we are totally different people. Tritype tells a far bigger story in my opinion. My advice is to figure out which you relate to most from heart (2,3,4), head (5,6,7) and gut (8,9,1) then go from there. Feel free to quote or @ me for any further questions as im a nerd in this sort of stuff he he he.
