Outdoor activities

I'll post this here because I believe the INTJs may be in general more interested in outdoor activities than us INTPs. All INTJs I've ever known have been very keen about, especially solitary, outdoor sports (especially running and skiing), but they also enjoy spending time outside gardening, hiking or for example chopping wood.

I grew up in a city, but never liked being in that kind of an environment. I need to spend time outside, and I get stressed if I'm not allowed to go into forest. I'm currently living in an area where there aren't very many good hiking possibilities, and I hate that. It's not that there isn't forest, but the forests aren't real forests but more like field of trees. There are some destinations I like to go for a day, but I'd love to do longer trips and overnight outside. I'm also suffering from a medical condition that makes hiking currently a little difficult, and it's sort of affecting my self-image since I used to think of myself as someone who is rough enough to spend a lot of time outdoors. Whenever I go abroad, I rather travel to nature destinations than cities. I also like fishing, gardening and nature photography. I'd like to live someplace where the nature (conservation areas or such) begins right on my doorstep.

What kind of outdoor activities do you enjoy and why?

Hiking and camping are regular events. Anything water-related (I grew up on boats), mainly kayaking, fishing and snorkeling (ear damage prevents me from scuba diving) but infrequently I'll go sailing or surfing. I try to get at least one trip up north every winter to snowboard. I enjoy it more as I get older. Sitting in front of a computer all day has lost its appeal for me.

I love the city. I've never been to a big city, where I live it's one big suburban neighborhood. Big city in the sense of skyscrapers and flashing lights, NYC for example. I've never been in a forest really, I have no interest in going hiking or camping.

I guess I would say I enjoy the beach as an outdoor activity.. If I had to pick one. I don't go to the beach often but it's calm at night, and in Florida we have them everywhere.

I've always liked walking and running. Running on trails through woods and stuff (not racing, but just jogging casually--used to race and hated it) is so much fun. I love it.

Can't run in Florida though except for like 1 or 2 months out of the year.

It's 88 today and it's practically November.

INTJs, like INFJs, can have a tendency to pay a lot of attention to body image. The few I know are a lot more hard cord in training their body than I could have ever wanted to.

They (the ones I know or had dated) are all body builders into sculpting (not bulking). They bike race, mountain bike, run, hike, rock climb, backpack, camp, ski/snowboard/snowshoe, and swim. They pretty much study their body to come up with dieting and training plans to ensure maximum result. They alway push to the limit.

My favourite sport will have to be... Either football, or a a peaceful swim in the vast sea. Football provides a good rush, and I was born into playing it as a sport, but the other option really shines in comparison. Floating on one's back on the ocean, gazing upwards into the blue sky, with nothing but the sound of the waves, gently swaying. Really opens one's mind.

So essentially you're looking for something other than hiking (which I love) to do if I read this right. Not sure exactly what condition you are facing, but swimming and biking are good options with a little less stress on the joints, or short hikes without carrying much other than a water bottle. If you elaborated on that it might help us find some other options for you.

Personally I enjoy hiking, running, walking, swimming, fishing, and soccer. Working on taking up biking as a hobby, just still trying to get past that uncomfortable seat, I used to ride everywhere as a kid but let it go one too many years apparently so now have to toughen back up. I try to get to the woods or the beach any time I can.

Oh, no. I didn't have a clear purpose for this thread. I was mainly just trying to avoid doing something important, but boring ;) I'm not sure there are that many activities I could do that I've never thought of, but luckily the medical thing is improving and I can hopefully be more active in the future. I did some camping this summer and it was great, even though I have to admit I felt a bit old compared to what it was like ten years ago.

I like passive enjoyment of the outdoors..camping - especially sitting around a campfire in the woods, taking a drive out in beautiful country/mountain/beachy areas with the windows down and music up, hanging out at a beach - perhaps a beach walk, and public parks with easy access to waterfalls and things like that. I've never really been much for active outdoorsy stuff but I've also never been all that into physical activity in general, even as a child.

It was fun to read all the replies to this post. I love to sit on the bank of the creek with my bare feet in the water, hike, play in the lake, watch clouds, watch others on bikes while I sit in a rock, study critters, trees, flowers, rocks, look for bear and mountain lion....preffably far far away... Love.camping, building a fire, watching the flames, driving in the mountains, reading a book by the creek, outdoor photography

Those are just a few of the things I love to do outside.
