I have this weird tendency to be able to pick up on people's motives through their actions and speech patterns. After enough years of doing this to my immediate social circle(s), which changes often, I have honed that skill to the point where I can actually anticipate how a person would react to a certain decision and be correct. I find that being able to read how people tick is actually important in planning ahead. For instance, if an idea would be highly opposed, and you know how the opposer would react, a planner can take steps in mitigating the negative reaction of the opposer.
That's called knowing someone.

I don't know that I am saying either. What I am saying is that the internal "deadline clock" that is always ticking in my mind is something they were born without. Deadlines simply don't mean to a P what they mean to a J. That's why the greatest artists are almost exclusively Ps. It really doesn't matter how long it takes, they will take whatever time is necessary...
How do you experience this internal clock and deadlines?

Perhaps their motives come from their functions?

Ne+Ti+Fe

Wants to explore the new and unknown, make the connections between things, create a logical system, invent new ways and things. This is all accompanied by a desire to be viewed by others in a positive light and help "people" or whatever.

Just an idea.

Yep. At least I can. People who are diagnosed with CounterProductive tendencies are the easiest to read. I read it's caused by damage to the brain either before birth or early years after birth.

Anyway, I learn something every day. Thanks to your post!

Read this!

Reading an individual correctly is probably the most powerful life tool that one person can possess. I don't have a problem with many types but when I come across someone that is overly confident I have to feed them a little. If you can make them think you are who they want you to be they will let you in their world.

I usually start out with contradicting stories, not obvious enough to let them know they are being tested but obvious enough that they notice. Most people won't correct you but if they do it's working. You comment on their observance and pull back letting them ask you the questions from this point on and they think that they are driving, they will steer your conversation in a way that let's them think they have you figured out. The other day I even had someone tell me they had me figured out.

Once they have you figured out you can penetrate their wall and they will tell you everything you wanted to know. The safety zone for an arrogant person is that they control the situation by thinking they know your type...

I've come across a supervisor whom I cannot for the life of me, read.

Which makes me very curious as to which type would be the blind spot of an ENTJ. Meaning, which of the types would an ENTJ hypothetically have difficulty reading.
I don't know but it's creepy when that does happen. I don't like it. If I can't see what someone wants I want to run away. For all I know they are plotting to kill me. Can't trust them. *Shiver*

It has been in my experience that I am baffled by truly kind people.
People who are really nice and sincere without a motive.
I'm baffled when people think I have some ulterior motive. Baffled and annoyed.

Must be nice. lol

It's fine, I figured him out. I had my hunches but couldn't pin it down. I needed to read him because he had ability to harm my project in a roundabout way.

It's amazING how much information the front desk has--with that, I knew my hunches weren't paranoia. My confirmation came from a neutral party who slipped or may have a habit of telling too much.

Such a "fun" game that was.

Type 6! lol
There are some people that do cause shivers to run down my spine, and those are people I avoid. My intuition is pretty strong when it comes to reading others.

I have a hard time reading INTPs, because they keep to themselves, they are rational, and they don't care how long it takes to accomplish whatever it is they are up to :)
as an INTP I often get to hear smth like that XD guess we are nasty little devils XD

I can read someones personality but not someones motives
I often can see a problem behind the whole think really easily
but sometimes I don't pay attention on hidden motives - especially when I could imagine that someone could have one - but often people do - and that's something I learned recently
guess it means I read some things about people well and others I simply don't notice
