I was just wondering if it is common for INTPs to become rich. Most people say that INTPs are too lazy... And really I just looking for someone to contradict this with evidence of some INTP's success
I think ideas are easier to deal with because in the case of failure or "rejection", you can always start over. In contrast, reality is irreversible.

Statistics also seem to imply that most people don't get rich.
Oh, very much so. There's rich people in every type just like there's poor people. There are always outliers.

@abieseedie I would suggest you take a look at this link. We've already had somewhat of a discussion on the topic. I'm open to questions.

I would guess most of the people on this list are/were pretty rich at at least some point: Famous INTPs - CelebrityTypes.com
Ironically, most of that list probably wasn't what we'd call rich, other than a few of the more recent Internet innovators. Full of academics, philosophers, and a few politicians. *grin* Fame and money often go together, but not inevitably.

I am lucky as we are not millionaires but we are very comfortable. However I have to state for the record this is a lot more to do with my pet INTJ than it is to do with me.

My guess is. Yes INTPs could become very rich, the only problems are these.

- Your idea/truth/goal has to translate into money in some way or another. Maybe via technological advances, software services, intellectual services, theoretical breakthroughs with a lot of price winnings or your idea just plainly has to be a change, breakthrough, hack/cheat/glitch in the econonomical system.

- You have to work or otherwise act upon your idea.

- You have to not have an extremely high amount of money you have to pay back to others.

I really live in a situation where I have a good wealthfare system around me, and me and my family have good enough finacial status to get by in life. You could argue that we are rich and so on, but as I'm young and still haven't started working, I don't really have that much money. However many youths like me have big expectations of becoming rich and getting success in life. I feel this appeals less to me, as success is much based on becoming something. I feel I just want to be myself and enjoy my life more, and don't necessary do what other get expectations of. As long as I have a meaningful job with a salary to survive and happyness in my life I'd be fine.

The underline is that I doubt that we really have the urge to get rich. We rather live a simple life I guess ..

Do you wanna be?
I do. But I guess what I really want is to be self-sufficient and not have to rely on others when it comes to money. I want to live comfortably and be able to provide for myself and maybe a family. I definitely won't be quitting my job if I have children... Not sure why I feel so strongly about this though.

I'm actually guessing a lot of the "top" of the richest people owe a lot of their wealth to some INTP dude, who handed them the answer to their prayers or gave them a concept, which they could translate into money and wealth.

What do you consider "rich"?

yes.

Would they suffer exceptionally? Probably.

For the most part INTPs don't really need much in a monetary sense to be entertained. Our minds + new information is all the entertainment we really need plus the cost of maintaining our physical bodies to keep our minds alive. Vote INTPs as the most likely to live in glass containers as floating furturama heads lol.

Materially, I think the most I would ever want is enough for a self-sufficient cabin/unit/bunker, reliable transportation, reasonable modern technological gadgets and internet access, food, traveling and comic cons, and enough passive income to maintain said stuff. The rest if any would give to other INTPs to help them live the dream of not working and pursuing their intellectual whims lol.

Marcus Perrson got rich by not really doing much. He's made a ton of money with Minecraft and then he made $2.5 billion when he sold the IP to Microsoft. It's a badly coded Java game. HE'S A GOD!
I'm pretty sure that he's an INTP based on the things he said in the past.

What do you consider "rich"?
Hmmm... Not really sure. I guess able to live well with enough left over for unnecessary luxuries (like flying first class or staying in five star hotels). It would be nice to be financially secure and able to just buy extravagant things. Maybe I just like the idea of being rich...
