Based on the entirety of the band's personality, including its hit songs, and key messages. But not related the types of the people involved.

I will start this one off...

Slipknot - ESFP
Stone Temple Pilots - ISFJ
The White Stripes - ENFP
Linkin Park - ISFP
Staind - ISFJ
Arctic Monkeys - ENFP
Paramore - ESFJ
Tonight Alive! - ENFJ
Red Hot Chilli Peppers - ESFP
Oasis - ESTJ
Creed - ENFJ
U2 - ESFJ
Pearl Jam - INFJ
My Chemical Romance - ENFP
System of a Down - INTJ
Puddle Of Mudd - ISTJ
Panic At The Disco - ENTP
Mudvayne - INTJ
Maroon 5 - ESFJ
Marilyn Manson - ENTJ
Flobots - ENTP
Lifehouse - ISFJ
Jimmy Eat World - INFP
Incubus - ESFP
Mumford and Sons - INFP
Korn - ENTP
Death Cab for Cutie - INFJ
Placebo - INTP
Nirvana - INTP
Muse - INTP
Disturbed - ENFP
Radiohead - INFP
The Killers - INFP
Soundgarden - ISFP
Nine Inch Nails - ISFP
Eminem - ESFP
Rage Against the Machine - ENFP

Again, basing this off generalizations of the functions (Fi - focus on values, Fe- focus on group values, Se - focus on immediate experiences, etc)

Disturbed - ENFP
Agreed. Not coincidentally, that's David Draiman's (likely) type ;) (off chance he's INFP). Despite your caveat, generally a band's "type" is going to reflect the type of their primary lyricist, which usually but not always the primary vocalist.

Nirvana - INTP
I'd go more INFP but not sure. Yeah, good list overall. I don't know a lot of them well enough to comment further.

Dillinger Escape Plan - ENTP?

From what I know from those bands, and of MBTI, that list seems accurate. I can't count how many times someone has listed Handlebars by Flobots as the ENTP theme song.

Pink Floyd - Maybe ENFJ, a lot of their music has an Fe-Ni vibe to it. They're song, "The Turning Away", seems to be a good example:

"No more turning away from the weak and the wary
No more turning away from the coldness inside
Just a world that we all must share
It's not enough to just stand and stare"

The National - INFP
Daft Punk - INTP
The Killers - ISFP
Gotye - INFP
The Shins - INTJ
AC/DC - ESTP
Metallica - ESTJ
Radiohead - INTP
The Fray - ...Fe
The Cure - INFP
Pink Floyd - INFJ
Florence + The Machine - INFJ
Nirvana - INFP

The National - INFP
Daft Punk - INTP
The Killers - ISFP
Gotye - INFP
The Shins - INTJ
AC/DC - ESTP
Metallica - ESTJ
Radiohead - INTP
The Fray - ...Fe
The Cure - INFP
Pink Floyd - INFJ
Florence + The Machine - INFJ
Nirvana - INFP
From the ones I'm familiar with and a few extras:

The National - INFP 4w5 or depressed 9 ("We're half awake in a fake empire." or "Stay inside our rosy-minded fuzz." That sounds 9ish but "Sorrow" and many others are stereotypically 4)
The Shins - INFJ 4w3/4w5 ("New slang when you notice the stripes, the dirt in your fries" or "One day I'll be wondering how I got so old just wondering how I never got cold wearing nothing in the snow" points to inf. Se)
Radiohead - INxJ 4w5/5w4 (Thom Yorke is INxJ not INFP; "Pyramid Song" is also Ni to the max)
The Fray - ISFJ 2w3 ("I would have stayed up with you all night had I known how to save a life"; practical Si-Fe)
Pink Floyd - INFP/INTJ 4w5 (Lots of Ni, but I also see inf. Te, stamping out individuality (Fi) through Te institutions: "Hey, teacher! Leave them kids alone. All in all, you're just another brick in the wall.")
The Beatles - ENFP most likely, but a combination of multiple types
The Smiths - INFx (Morrissey, INFx 4w3; I go back and forth between INFP/INFJ)
St. Vincent - INFJ (Annie Clark, INFJ 4w5)
Sufjan Stevens - INFJ (Ni: "All things go, all things go. To recreate us. All things grow, all things grow." in "Chicago")
U2 - ENFJ ("One" is Fe-Ni anthem)
The Black Keys - xSTP
Taylor Swift - ESFJ 3w2
Ed Sheeran - IxFP

And last and very least:
Pitbull: ESTP ugh.

Arcade Fire - _NFP, not sure which (probably INFP).
Broken Bells - INTP?
DragonForce - Flaming ENFP.
Led Zeppelin - ESTP?
Massive Attack - INTP.
Metallica - INTJ.
Portishead - Freaked out ISFJ.
Santana - Chilled out ISFJ.
Yo La Tengo - ENFP.

I think Disturbed are Se. That's the vibe I get from them. Very visceral and aggressive, heavily oriented around sensations. Rage Against The Machine seem Se as well. Don't disagree with the rest.

Tool- INFJ
A Perfect Circle - INFP
A Perfect Circle always hit me as Ni, "Counting Bodies like Sheep" seems Ni. I'm not sure if either is very Feeler, though, they have very heavy reasoned, logically 'consistent' Te like perspectives.

INTJ comes to mind for A Perfect Circle. Tool may be NT as well. Haven't heard as much of their stuff to decide. I'm guessing NP, from the few I've heard. They also used Bill Hicks for an album cover and as a symbol of their work, even naming songs in his honour, and Bill Hicks is ENTP, so maybe that type is a consideration.

80s Bands for NFs

U2 - ENFJ
The B-52's - ENFP
The Cure - INFP 4w5 ("Pictures of You" is Fi-Si)
The Smiths - INFJ 4w3/4w5 (Morrissey is INFJ I've decided, or at least in The Smiths, while more ISFP in solo career)
