Feynman is typed as an ENTP, but I was watching a video of his in which he states that he abhorred the humanities and arts and virtually any non Physics/Math based class when he was at MIT. He then claimed that he broadened his interest later in life. I was wondering if he may have been a Ni user and possibly a INFJ due to his obvious Fe? An argument exist that he was an ENFJ. A smart INFJ would be mis-typed as a NT.

Lol don't trust those retarded sites they put Bill Gates as ENTJ when he is INTP.

Well, I don't know enough about Feynman's personal style to say one way or the other, but why would preferring math and physics to the humanities and arts make him less likely to be an ENTP, and more likely to be an INxJ?
He was such a good teacher, generally NT types suck at teaching (not really are thing) he actually prefered it Ni-Fe and Fe-Si (ENFJ, ESFJ) generally prefer it. Isn't weird for an ENTP to feel hatred toward learning anything?

Actually, ENTPs tend to make great teachers, since they find it easy to recombine information and show parallels between different seemingly unrelated phenomena, and can break things down to an almost mathematical level that exposes the basic principles behind whatever is being taught, not to mention the general extroversion and social ease that many have. I'd say there would be a greater weakness or unwillingness around areas where sensitivity was paramount, since NTs aren't known for preferring a sensitive approach in most situations.

If you watch some of his interviews, you will notice that his use of the Ne-Si axis is blatantly obvious. Also, as has been said, ENTPs are typified by an ability to teach.

What is a good teacher depends really on the educational level and the subject and the class. Pre university, feelers are probably better because then it is just as much about social control and empathy as it is about teaching. At university I discovered that it was the other way around for me.

Read Surely You're Joking, Mr. Feynman, then come back and say he's an INFJ.

@MegaTuxRacer They're typified by an ability to do pretty much anything.
I'm currently reading 6 Not So Easy Pieces. His writing in this book seems Ni driven which is interesting because I have alway associated him with Ne.

I was not stating that ENTPs are bad teachers, but it seems to me that a high Fe user would be more inclined to be attracted to the field. I have always seen ENTPs and INTPs as being the types to start say Microsoft or Apple, or win a Nobel prize, and coast for the rest of their lives as opposed to continuing in the limelight, with constricting rules and day to day task. More specifically I see Ne-Ti users as individuals driven to follow their own interest and prize that freedom above all else, think Paul Allen. Without Fe or Te being in lead or aux wouldn't an individual burn out quicker? So wouldn't it make since that an individual such as Feynman would be using an inordinate amount of Fe in order to not, for lack of a better word, pack it all in after the Nobel Prize and live out his life in England? Their was a article that showed that ENTPs, INTPs, INTJs and INFPs retire the earliest by about 5 years while ENTJs work the longest (figures) *if I remember correctly.

Since I based these observations on myself it occurs to me that perhaps I am simply a lethargic ENTP haha.

Once you read "Surely You're Joking..." and "What do YOU are what other people think?" it will be painfully obvious that he is an ENTP poster child for a reason. Specifically his obsession with code-writing to bypass the mail censorship at Los Alamos.

Feynman is just about as ENTP as they come. You can have opinions of an emotional nature '& not be an INFJ...
I must say after reading "Surely your joking" he does seem ENTP, however, I am still surprised at some of his remarks in regards to working in many fields, for instance he threw the social sciences under the bus in an interview for BBC back towards the end of his life, of course that could simply be the result of an old man being set in his ways. Funny, I never thought Feynman as being old.

It's an excellent book!
That book made me cry with laughter.

You should read Steve Jobs biography as well...
So you'll understand why he's ENFP ;).

His distrust for social sciences most likely stemmed from his very negative experience with being evaluated by an Army psychologist.
