It's good to see so many introverted 7s here. Outgoing seems to be written into so many 7 descriptions, that I doubt I could be 7- but almost everything else fits. Avoiding boredom fits, seaching for constant stimulation fits. etc. Disintegrating to 1- I think that's what I do, I get hyper-critical and decisive "it's got to be done this way" when I'm stressed. I guess I'll try it on awhile and see if it truly fits

I would be careful not to mix up Jungian and social introversion. People can be outgoing Introverts and shy Extraverts, and so forth.

Consider "outgoing" in the literal sense, if you parse the word: out, and going. Going out from something. It doesn't necessarily have to mean talkative, or sociable, just that you prefer to live, so to speak, over the horizon, seeking the new or different.

haha! i feel like I'm always making that same point about introversion and jungian functions!

if i read timeless's description of 7s, i sound exactly like the SP 7. he mentions introversion being likely.
but the book "wisdom of the enneagram" paints a different picture of sp 7s that i don't quite identify with. they sound more consumerist and materialist, and it states they enjoy socializing.

I've come to realize socializing is just another source of stimulation for me. I'll enjoy it if the conversation or people are stimulating. want to run away if they aren't

Great minds think alike? I just wish the terminology could be changed, it'd save a lot of people some vocabulary-based/conceptual hassle.

Good distinction there - and applying some reasoning, this seems more a hole in the written material of Wisdom, not the core idea of type 7.

Ambiverted and quiet though not jungian introverted due to Ne-Dom.

A bit stresses so my sixish nature is showing but I AM a seven!

Are we a rare breed? I'm an INTP, 7w6. I find I show more of a 9 attitude to people I don't know; once I'm within my comfort zone I quickly become far more confident and like my 'true' self. This only happens around people I've decided are competent enough for me to, well, stand in general. The thing is that while extroverted 7s may draw their energy from fast-paced activities with other people, I prefer stimulation of the mind and doing so on my own. I don't mind if people tag along so long as they aren't a hindrance to whatever I'm trying out/learning. I slow down very rarely for others to catch up and you'll be lucky if you get a second attempt at an explanation if you don't get it the first time around.

Extroverts would be more likely to take enjoyment from having others participate but as an introvert, I get energy/happiness adequately on my own. It's difficult to explain; basically, our enthusiasm manifests itself differently but aims towards a similar goal.
I agree with this completely!
