Whenever I accidentally step on any kind of bug, I feel tremendous "negative feelings" about the action. It stays with me for days, and I cannot help but feel a kind of disgust with my clumsiness. Like, "it didn't do anything to me. It was just minding its own business, and I had to come along like Andre the Goddamned Giant and reduce it to an indiscriminate, splattered mess on the sidewalk.

I cannot bring myself to ever harm flies or spiders - animals that "most people" often find repulsive or dangerous in some capacity. Flies receive the open window treatment and spiders get to stay in whatever corner they inhabit. I have what I can only describe as a "community" of spiders living on the windowsill at the top of my shower. Over the past months, I have seen the 3 spiders that inhabited the windowsill reach adulthood and create the most amazing demonstrations of architecture - all without a college degree!

I believe that people who willingly torture/kill insects for the sake of their own sick amusement are the most petty individuals on this planet. It's literally a pathetic exertion of imaginary power over a living creature that cannot fight back, has no intention to harm, and is about 1000x smaller than the average human.

I've also noticed that people who tend to kill spiders on sight are usually SJs. When I ask them to justify their actions, I'm usually faced with: "it was scary" or "it's poisonous". It especially frustrates me when they go on a spider-extermination spree and then wonder why their houses now have "pest bugs" or the like. Seriously? There's ignorance, then willful ignorance, then there's just stupidity that can be counted as a new force of nature.

Well, this was one hell of a 1st post. Thanks for reading my rant on bugs.

I don't understand your feelings for insects and small animals, you feel guilty for killing some insects? Inconceivable.
An ant are eating my pudding? Kill. It is my pudding to eat.
A spider is on my bed? Kill. It should've known better than to near my sanctuary.
A fly is buzzing around my room? Kill. It's an annoyance.
A rat is running about in my house? Kill. It is deteriorating my house.
Assuming they're not near me, i won't bother with them either.
Insects and animals alike are beneath me, figuratively and literally, there's no emotions regarded in their demise, the world could even have less of them assuming they're not useful towards humanity.

This is an unhealthy mindset, you should try to get over it. If you accidentally step on an insect there is nothing you can do. It has already happened. It is not like you have deliberately stamped on them. Also, just so you know. You do most likely kill plenty of insects every day without even knowing. Better to lock yourself inside of your own house, never to set foot on a lawn or walk through the park.

How so? Personally, I find that mindlessly killing anything is at the very least, unnecessary. If it isn't a logical violation, it's at least a moral one. Repulsion is not an excuse for cruelty.

I suppose the ideas of forceful relocation is out of the question here. Also, if ants are in your pudding, I suggest you stop leaving your cups of pudding around for hours on end. The spider doesn't know better - and to justify its killing with "it's near me" is weak. Plus, if you leave it around long enough, it'll be able to catch that fly buzzing around that room, and more. If rats live in your house, go buy a reusable box trap - and stop living like a degenerate.

Fair.

Your favorite band is Linkin Park.

I understand that it's not intentional, and I always do get over this - it probably just takes a bit longer than usual.

Also, just so you know. You do most likely kill plenty of insects every day without even knowing.
I can't do anything significant to stop this. In the end, we're still killing millions of microorganisms when we breathe - there's no way to save everything. What I do is small, and invisible in the big picture.

You don't have to worry about me exiting the comfort of my dorm.

Depending on your religious or lack of religious affiliation, bugs don't cross into the afterlife. Animals don't have souls or something.
Lies. I found proof you're wrong.

Anyway, I never watched The Frog Princess. Is it any good?
I wouldn't know. I simply inserted an image I found online. But if you watch it, I hope you enjoy it.

You know, it's sweet that you care so much about insect life! Not many people do. In your world, I'd be branded a serial killer

Thanks, and thanks. I'm currently watching The Frog Princess, if that's anything to note.

Didn't know you have so much hatred against grain-based breakfast products.

You sound like a Jain (religion)

You're thinking too much bro dude. Of course insects are living creatures too, but if I see a big ass spider Ima stomp that mofo, cause they creep me dafuq out. Also plants are alive as well, maybe not so fleshy but think about that next time you eat a piece of broccoli. Life devours life sadly

Wrong, my favorite band is myth & roid.
I assume you're the type of person to sprout out things like "All life is equal" or some other virtue signaling crap. To that I say bullshit, for me life was never equal, animals are treated as livestock for our consumption, insects are killed because their presence is a source of discomfort. What you're doing is the equivalent of a child refusing to eat chicken because they used to be alive.
What's more illogical is your refusal to killing small critters despite them bring pestilence inside, are you fully willing to live with bugs crawling everywhere? Nevermind, it's not like you came to this forum to be rid of that habit but to find like-minded doofuses to reinforce your thinking.

( and FYI, I don't live in a place infested with rats or anything)

I used to be a little like that. I would go well out of my way to put spiders outside. They seemed to take this as an invitation and one summer I counted around 80 HUGE spiders that I had to shoo out ( my husband will not cross the path of a spider so this kept him from going to work -_-) after that I decided "Fuck 'em!"

I did feel pretty bad about one particular incident though. I killed the plant spider- he stayed out of my way and just ate the bugs off of my favorite potted plant but he was seen while I was in mid-rampage.

First off, spiders are not insects. Spiders are arachnids, and except for a very few (unless you live in Australia), they are beneficial to humans. Second, it doesn't pay to be kind to insects except those that are also beneficial or harmless to humans (butterflies, dragonflies, ladybugs, walking sticks, honey bees, and a few others.) Insects are the primary vector of communicable diseases on the planet: flies, mosquitoes, roaches, and fleas are the number one killers of people. Wasps, bees, hornets, horseflies, etc., come in a distant second for being annoying and potentially deadly. Ants are the most common invasive pest on earth. Fire ants are a scourge on humans and animals alike. (In Florida, fire ants kill more than half of all sea turtle nestlings before they can reach the water.) Whatever your squeamishness about killing insects, get over it. They aren't worth your respect.

Aww. It's going to be OK. The bug is in a better place now.

Is there a Big-Lipped Beetle Moment?

Seriously though, I don't feel too bad about killing a bug. I don't particularly like the icky creatures. I especially really don't like mosquitoes and wasps, which makes me feel like I'm in a cheesy sci-fi film.

Maybe you just value other living things and don't want to kill them senselessly.

I've never really liked killing them either and will move them (except for this short tirade I went on as a pre-teen when I was going through a difficult time in my life--but was pretty uncharacteristic).

I'm not sure why--maybe because I find them interesting, maybe because it seems like a waste to kill them for no reason, maybe because I find committing violence out of unfounded fear petty...

I will consciously kill some bugs though, and it's usually a decision to put one life over the other. I kill fleas on my cat. I will kill poisonous spiders if they are in places where they could end up hurting someone, especially children. Though at home, I prefer to let my chicken do the dirty work and then I don't have to feel guilty and she is happy because she likes to eat them.

People can get a little defensive about it, but I think of it kind of like sports. Some people like watching sports and who knows why, some people like to relocate spiders and avoid killing bugs. The other good thing is that people who do like to kill bugs because they are afraid of them or whatever, disgusted by them, usually prefer not to have to do it themselves if possible--so they ask me to deal with the bug, and then I can move it. And then they can go watch sports so I don't have to. Yuck sports. It's a win win.
