i read somewhere that the character that Rachel McAdams plays in the notebook is an infp. this cracks me up. i feel so cliche, but when i watch some of the things she does-they are SO something i would do, for example, when Noah starts questioning the relationship, she breaks up with Noah saying that if he is too afraid going to end it, she will. Then once he starts driving away she says-oh wait we're not really breaking up are we?!

Interesting... it would've never occured to me that she's INFP, but I can see the possibility now. I relate to her a bit, but not hugely. I relate much more to Noah.

for example, when Noah starts questioning the relationship, she breaks up with Noah saying that if he is too afraid going to end it, she will. Then once he starts driving away she says-oh wait we're not really breaking up are we?!
I related more to Noah, actually. Because I never make empty threats, in fact I never threaten people. I'm a follow-through-er, so when Allie breaks up with him, I thought "Damn right girl! I'd do the same!" but then she took it back and I was lost "Noooo wtf are you empty-threating people, that's so uncool!", then Noah follows through with "the plan" of breaking up and that's exactly how I work.

I relate to the talking a lot when I'm nervous, but beyond that, I have nothing in common with A. Everything Noah does and says is exactly what I do and say, including the waiting a thousand years for a person and building them a house and being the stoic figure while my partner is much louder and all over the place. So I actually thought of Noah as an INFP, because like him I won't go into a relationship without having enough money, a house, things to offer, etc I think I see him as idealistic more than realistic because I think he idealises Allie. I think that he acts that way not because of personality, but because of the gender roles, especially in those times. Regardless of personality, men were supposed to provide material stability and be stoic and all that.
