can you explain me why you chose these types for the people above?

ps: how on earth was jesus fully balanced?
Thanks for your questions, let me start by saying that I hope I made it clear from my OP that I am not claiming to have some special knowledge or insight that makes my guesses any better than anyone else's, I just think it's fun and reasonably useful to think about these things.

So to your first question I must confess that my method was guesswork based on subjective personal observations about personality types (which I hardly have an elemental grasp on) and my slightly better knowledge of the Bible and theology.

To your second question (thanks for asking it, about time someone did) I say that I did this ideologically from the belief that Jesus is a perfect being that relates to all humans completely and is able to be everybody's best friend. I think you will agree that if my beliefs happen to be correct then Jesus would have to be a very balanced person. Also I took it as a truism that the maker of the human mind would have the most balanced mind. I may be wrong. It's up to you to think of better reasons for your guesses (because guesses is all they will ever be until the people we are talking about sit down and do a test).

I hope that helps

@Daniel_James_Maher

Wow! I am impressed by how much you know about the Bible. I'm also a little glad you consider Mary Magdelene to be an INFP. I don't think she gets a fair shake.

I am a bit surprised at Adam being typed as an ENTJ since he so easily listened to Eve about eating the forbidden fruit. He knew he wasn't supposed to by God, a much higher force. There would be no huge logical reason to eat something he knew he shouldn't. There is some controversy to the story, but the classic one we all know is that they both ate from the tree knowing it was wrong. There is definitely more blame put on Eve (who I think was an ESFJ or ENFJ). Adam seems to be more of an ISFP.

I wholeheartedly agree that Paul was an ENTJ the more I learn about him.

I always see people labelling the Virgin Mary as an INFP, but I can see her as an ISFJ easy. I agree that Joseph seems like an ISFP as well.

This thread makes me want to freshen up on my Bible knowledge.
Thank you for your kind words. The Adam and Eve thing is a bit weak I know, since we have so little real information to deal with I ran with a few assumptions that could easily be wrong. Basically I assumed that the first two humans would probably have a full range of personality traits between them, this is the weak link, but it's somewhere to start.
Then I went a little deeper theologically than to simply say (as several people have already on this thread) that Adam was the follower and Eve the leader in this situation. If you note the interpretation of the history of Adam and Eve in what is commonly called the New Testament then you will see that Eve was not held ultimately responsible for sin as some misogynists have claimed over the centuries. Rather the Bible records that she was tricked by the serpent and Adam, who knew what he was doing decided to rebel against God knowing full well what he was doing. I think you may be able to see a little more now why I classified them the way I did.

:)

At a youth conference that I went to in Colorado this week, a person talked about Jesus's personality. I agree with your statement, because even though I learned a lot about his personality, it all seemed rather hard to understand because there was so much to his personality. It was an incredibly good (and funny) sermon, I really enjoyed it. I don't think they have it up yet, but when they get it up I will try to post it here.

I'm claiming David as ESTP.:happy: The only bible character I can relate to. Yes, he could be a bastard at times, but he made sense.

I got impatient reading the other characters in the bible years ago and kept having to go back and read what happened because I kept getting distracted. They didn't interest me.
I'll give David to you if nobody objects. :) It makes sense to me that the writer of the Psalms would be a feeler but it really doesn't mean much. After all, he wrote Psalm 109.

What about King Nebuchadnezzar? Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego? I would be interested in knowing their types. I love Daniel as an INTJ, that's brilliant.
Thanks, Neb is getting ENTJ (no surprises there) but I'm afraid I'm not going to venture on the other three because all three are always acting together and there's just not enough data to analyse them individually.

Adam = ENTJ
Eve = ISFP
Simon Peter = ENFP
Mary Magdalene = INFP
Jude = ESTJ

I've explained my rationale, but now I have a little time for details.

I've dealt with the first two elsewhere so we'll leave them.
Simon Peter, refer @Calvin 's post.
Mary Magdalene, I've always thought the Mary in John 11 to be MM. I can't remember if I had a reason for this. Am I wrong?
Quiet, attentive, emotional, unconventional, knows the right thing to do intuitively. INFP, why not? Please suggest an alternative if you disagree.
Jude, his book. I don't know about you but it comes across to me as the work of an ESTJ. Judgment, action, punishment, behave. This does beg the question whether Paul and Jude actually have anything in common, but we must remember that Paul was a "university academic" and Jude was a "chippy" (carpenter/builder's labourer), there is only so much that personality can account for.

Thank you for those who made significant contributions to this list. Especially those who caused me to change my initial typing of some people: @walking tourist, @Fuzbal, @stack.o.pancakes, @Wintercat, @Calvin, @cityofcircuits (removed God, Adam and Eve), @mufkapla, @spookyfornever, @Iamde123 and @EDLC.

Note on Esther for Wintercat:
Although Esther has charm, I think she is quite cool, calm and collected, reserved even. I still think Introvert for her. Not sure about exact personality though… an introvert that is charming and good at acting...

Adam = ENTJ
Eve = ISFP
Simon Peter = ENFP
Mary Magdalene = INFP
Jude = ESTJ
My guesses:

Adam: xSFJ
Eve: ENFP
Simon Peter: ESTP
Mary Magdalene: ENTP
Jude: IxTJ
Jesus: INFJ (enneagram 2>>lived as a 4)

@Daniel_James_Maher I only see one ESFP on that list, which I guess is possible, It just seems like God would use a balance of people, though the typical stereotypes of ESFP's don't usually fit with what you see in the bible. However, I can't really think of any people who might be ESFP... maybe like Caleb?

I'm sure you'll be able to think of someone, Caleb's already in the list by the way.

Jesus was definitely an ENFJ or something along those lines. That son of a bitch could work a crowd, and he was pretty skilled in manipulation. NFJs are known for being the "cult leader" type, so it's probable.
Jesus also did and said many things that lost him the favour of his followers. e.g. John 6:66

Hmm. I don't know, Hitler was an Infj an he could manipulate a crowd.
Yes, public speaking ability is not a personality trait.

Um, well some of the podcasts are up... just not the one about Jesus's personality... sorry. :frustrating:

What about Jonah? He's by far one of my favorite.
He's a very interesting character, that's for sure!

Definitely a type 4 (no doubt!), not sure of his tritype fixes, tho 8 seems probable. Not a Soc dom, I'm thinking SP/Sx. Maybe an ENFP as well.

I went to go see a play on Jonah last year, though I can't say it's entirely accurate, since to make a decent length play they had to add some stuff, all of it seems reasonable though. In that he seemed like he could be an ISFJ, but I don't know.

I would make Gideon an ESFP.

Jonah seems like an ISTP to me. He ran away from his fear on a ship, and "did his own thing". But then he fessed up like a man, and did the right thing. His pride against Nineveh and yet obedience to God reeks of inferior Fe. Also, he was definitely a sensor.

Jesus was an INFJ, maybe an INTJ.

And if I had to type him, I would make satan an intuitive: either an INTJ or ENFP
