Comparing 3 + 7 Archetypes (378, 379 and 137)

My wife's an ESTJ 317 (or 371). She's definitely perfectionist, has high standards, very industrious and can be a bit of a workoholic especially around her job. When she sets her mind to a hobby or a project, she always does finishes it (and I have more problems with finishing because of my dominant perceiving function).

One of her biggest quips about her job is how others are not as competent as they could be (I suppose 1 criticism). She can be prone to expressing her boredom with her job fairly regularly and is always seeking new tasks/responsibilities in order to keep interested ... by doing more work or asking for more work .. (pretty unique solution to a problem with boredom lel). The 7 desire for novelty and the 1 and 3 push towards competency can be in a little conflict at times - visibly so.

Her 7-fix really shines through her optimism for the future, pleasure and novelty seeking in terms of new experiences though. A lot more than I'm used to seeing with other SJ's tbh who seem content with repeating old experiences more. (It would be tough for me if I didn't have someone who wanted to try new things as much / often as I do)

We bond through our shared 7-fix and run our life/household through the 1. My 1 core and her 1 fix basically created a very functional household with the 7-ish ability to create a lot of unique ways for enjoying each other's company as well. There's always new ideas and ways to go out and have fun, or find ways to just have a really good time if we're staying in. Either through playing video games together, having a date night, netflix and chill, novel sexual experiences or going out to theme parks and road trips.

One thing I will say that doesn't go entirely with the descriptions above is that she being an Sp-variant is less extroverted socially than my ENTJ Sx 873 brother who's *extremely* extroverted and is all about his business connections, networking and consolidating power through material success. In fact, for a while, she identified as an introvert.

You're right. Generally speaking, self-preservation subtypes are often a bit more introverted than the two other subtypes. If she's leading with sp THREE, then it amplifies the need to be industrious and may steer away from the stereotypical vanity of the THREE description. Add ESTJ and 317 and you get someone who's very focused on their work, humble, very trustworthy, effective and reliable and can even mistype as a 316 archetype because of that.
Sounds like her indeed. We did discuss the possibility of a 6-fix for her for a bit and in the end decided that she has the security focus of the Sp variant (slightly more geared towards success, material comforts and hobbies), as opposed to the security consciousness of a 6-fix driven out of fear. It's mainly through her past that it becomes more obvious that she's 7-fixed over 6-fixed as she's thrown caution to the wind several times and taken calculated risks for her life's advancement - much more so compared to my 361 father who was equally security focused, but also governed by fear of failure more than my wife.

It's gotten easier for me to differentiate since I have very close personal relationships with three ETJ's. The worst being the relationship with my brother where our 1 and 8 core clash horribly (literally an issue with ethics and morality vs selfishness and amorality and both have anger issues so we clash pretty much regularly every few months), best being with my wife likely owing to two shared fixes. I had trouble with my dad with regards to his lack of desire to take chances/risks in his life (which is projected onto me holding me back for a long time) and it's something we still argue over at times. He did take some chances, but never dabbled in running/starting his own consultancy, preferring to stick to a professional career as someone else's CEO or director instead.
