Are there any that anybody has actually HEARD of? ENTPs make such awesome characters (if I do say so myself,) so why aren't there any females portrayed in (popular) movies or books?

According to the TV Tropes page of fictional characters as they relate to personality types these are female ENTPs:

Mia Wallace from Pulp Fiction
Juno Macguff from Juno
Abby Sciuto from NCIS
Debra Morgan from Dexter (I'm inclined to say she is an ENFP. Too much feeling in that gal.)
Trope-tan...from TV Tropes.

That's it. Most other types on the list have at least half of their characters being female (except INTJ) while less than a quarter on the ENTP list are female. Kinda weird IMO considering how gawdamn entertaining us ENTPs can be!

First one that comes to mind is my avatar.

Kisuke Uruhara, from Bleach.

Definitely an ENTP.

But you're looking for females...

Probably Haruhi Suzumiya from The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya.

In fact, since I joined PerC, I've seen so many ENTPs using Haruhi for an avatar, I would argue she's like our anime mascot - whereas "L" from Death Note would be the INTP anime mascot, and Light Yagami (also Death note) for the INTJs.

Still, I prefer Kisuke Uruhara for myself. I strongly identify with the character in almost every respect.

But yeah, you wanted females. That's the only one I can think of at the moment. I can try and come up with more if you want. I'm pretty good at typing fictional characters, since they all are, essentially, archetypes themselves.

Anime has TONS of ENTPs. ENTP and INTJ are, in fact, probably the most overplayed persona type you will ever see in most anime. Another example of a male ENTP from popular anime is Kamina.

"Who the hell do you think I am?!"

Yeah... Kamina is like a thermonuclear explosion of ENTP-ness.

More ENTP females... OH!

Faye from Cowboy Bebop. She strikes me as an ENTP. So does that hacker girl from the same anime, I can't remember her name. The one that wears the tank-top and she's really crazy.

There was some discussion about NT females being poorly or rarely portrayed in entertainment, I think in the NT general forum. As I recall, one of the INTP females suggested that writers have a hard time getting a handle on these minds to begin with, and that most women who are interested in acting have a hard time getting into the NT mindset. So, you have a case of a writer trying to write how an *NTP thinks, and then a case of finding an actress who can comfortably fill the role.

I might be able to find one in literature somewhere for you, I have a lot of books, would that be helpful, or are you looking primarily for a movie or television series character?

Maybe Lucca from Chrono Trigger?
Haruhi Suzumiya
Konata from Lucky Star?
Ed from Cowboy Bebop

I do agree that ENTP females are under-represented in the entertainment industry. Keep in mind, the media still holds many traditionalist views that women are supposed to be the more emotional ones, so they're mostly portrayed as F's. You could try looking a famous female ENFPs, some of them may have been assumed to be Fs.

Irene Adler from Sherlock Holmes?

The oracle may be the best example of them all, An intuitive machine haunted by the shadows of the past.
Never thought of that before, the Oracle from The Matrix, right?

Good call! I really liked her character too.

The French Man was probably an ENFP, but he's male, and not an ENTP, so that's way off-topic.

@Abraxas Yes, the matrix oracle. I think it gets even better when you really think about it: Her main function is to bring imbalance to the matrix, but that imbalance is created to be ultimately for the better of everyone. This is right in line with one of the better descriptions of one of our primary attitudes (from the mbti description) Question Authority! and then do what it tells you anyway.

Oh my god, this is so relevant in my life right now.

And also - ladies and gentlemen, Ne-dominant/Si-inferior. That totally defines how it feels. It's like being aware of awareness.

You see the patterns that produce the future, but it's just a reflection of the past. The present moment is an ever changing fractal - but that's all it is. Forever. The ship has no anchor and no rudder, and the storm blows you to-and-fro, but the ocean goes on forever in all directions. There's land here and there, but compared to the vast ocean, even continents are only islands - for size is meaningless in infinity. You stop to gather supplies and refit, whenever you get blown into a friendly port, and you stay as long as you wish, maybe even bring part of the culture with you - and move on. You keep doing this until the ship just can't go on anymore, and the storm blows it to pieces.

And then...

... You learn how to swim.

And to sum up the point the oracle keeps beating on Neo:
The oracle: We can never see past the choices we don't understand.
It's that scratch we can never quite get at. Did I decide to jump in the water because I wanted to swim, or was it because I wanted to join my buddies, or maybe it was because I wanted to see what it felt like. There has to be a reason. Or does there? We need to know because we should know. It wouldn't be logical if we didn't. I can accept and believe things I can't explain with the assumption that I maybe I'll understand later, or that I don't have the time to grasp it now because that's how it's typically worked, but what if it doesn;t this time? It's a challenge. I can't go forward until I solve it.

Neo: No. I can't do that. I won't.
The Oracle: Well, you have to.
Neo: Why?
The Oracle: Because you're the One.

Confirmed, am indeed ENTP

The Oracle in The Matrix
I personally don't see a lot of consensus on fictional character typing, let alone do I throw my two cents in. But the preceding descriptions about the Oracle are very convincing evidence of ENTP-ness...very valuable insights insights into her character. It's been a while, but I'll re-watch the movies and check. My first impression however, is that she does indeed jive with me as being one of us.
