I love the performing arts in general! I did theater, musicals, and choir for fun in high school, and I'm in an a Capella group in college. Nothing professional, all for fun! I like the idea of acting, but it's not going to happen hahaha. And in acting, I don't think it'd be Hamlet or "artistic-indies" for me. I like the idea of doing some regular acting and character acting. Like, I like that Johnny Depp has played just a guy in movie's like "What's Eating Gilbert Grape," but he's also created and played a character with Captain Jack Sparrow. I also like the idea of creative brainstorming or editing (maybe even more than the idea of acting). If there existed a job where I could just collaborate on various creative projects, books, movies, music videos, things like this I would love it. Like if I could work with a director or a movie editor and help enhance the work ("Oh, wouldn't it be cool if?" "What if we tried?" "Has anyone considered?"). Or it would be a dream to help authors or screen writers create characters from scratch AND help edit the final project hahaha. I think I'm heading down the medical career path (I'm a junior in college so I have a long way to go hahaha), but we'll see if my heart stays in it. Some days I can't imagine doing anything else, other days I want to pursue a job that's more oriented around creativity. Thanks for starting this thread =).

"It is something I would like to do if I had the chance but it would not be my first choice."
I might do it for entertainment, but it's not my dream career. I'd way rather do something where my own ideas are heard, not where I'm speaking others' words.
I can see where you're coming from, but I think there's a lot more to acting than just saying someone else's words, and I think an actor can get over ideas, which don't have to be words, and also there's always the odd bit of improvisation as well. And all these ideas are just someone else's anyway. Everyone is a player...

Not that I'm an actor. But I did some as a kid, and it was a lot of fun. Developing my knee...I mean Ne. To Ne or not to Ne? That is the question.

I have a weird/ridiculous daydream sometimes that I accidentally get forced to do an independent film because it's a friend's project, and then I win an Academy Award.

So there's that. (And for this reason I will never judge anyone for having conceited and/or absurd and/or stupid daydreams.)

...but really I don't do any acting of any kind. I thought I wanted to be in the school play in 6th grade, but I freaked out before auditions and bailed, saying "acting is stupid!" I think it would be really interesting and really fulfilling in some ways, but at this point I have too many interests as it is. :) I greatly admire my friends who are in theater/those who are trying to break into film.

If I had the chance and opportunity I would love to as I love acting when I took it as a class :)

I think it would be a cool job but its an unrealistic dream for most people, and you have to have a certain amount of talent, confidence, a certain type of look etc.

Also, if you want to get started as a child/teen, you have to have very supportive parents, that will do anything to meet your dream, and I don't think most people have parents like that. Most parents just want to get food on the table.

I would love to do what Taylor Swift does as we are very similar. She seems to incorporate lots of things in her work, she decides what happens in her music videos, describes things like they happen in my head, brings out perfume, models, sings etc.

I think being a movie director or writer could be really cool too. I can't imagine a lot of people would like to see me infront of the camera, but I think I could create something special from behind the scenes.

I have known ever since I was a little kid that acting is what I wanted to do with my life. Just like some people know they want to be a dancer, or a fireman, or a lawyer etc. I've just always known I wanted to act. And the older I get, the more discontent I feel with a possible 9am-5pm job involving little-to-no creativity, and a lack of opportunity to experience the world, different people, and different cultures. I just figure that acting would be the perfect job because I could find something constructive to channel my creativity into, and my environment would be ever-changing, ever-stimulating.

I recently took a whole bunch of acting classes and discovered that I might possibly have some talent for this acting thing, so I am looking into becoming involved in some community theatre in my spare time whilst I finish my degree. After that, the sky is the limit.
