The INFP stereotypes

I surely am not the first to talk about that but,

I really don't like the stereotype we have in the typing community of the INFPs

It affects the subreddit of INFPs which are polluated of people who feel different. It's sad for them but actually it is pretty reductive for the real INFPs

Few problems I saw in the typing community:

- First, INFPs that self stereotype themselves: for example, the one topic about INFPs that say they don't like to have their personality because of this or that or people saying INFPs is a bad (I saw that on a french forum)
No you just don't like yourself. People are just able of change and having a progression in their personality there is no fatality.
-Second, the content of the stereotype: INFPs are an emotional mess, their Fi is crazy!!
Also, we use the term "healthy" INFPs from "unhealthy" INFPs or "Fi" as if they were an objective healthy and unhealthy just because being emotional means irrational in this society but even T are motivated by emotions (just as the rest of humans actually). Not cool. We don't really use the healthy and unhealthy for others cognitive function (except Ni I think)

The second statement implies that:
- INFPs can't think because if they can't think they aren't emotional (
Which implies that:
There is no INFP philosopher and thinker or scientific... if they are they have to be INTP.... 😤😤 For example I think Blaise Pascal could be an obvious Fi user.

- Political INFPs cannot exist.😐 If they exist they are necessarily artists. For example, Jesus and Buddha are typed INFJs. It makes absolutely no sense to me because both were political and ideology revolutionaries. INFJs use Fe and so previously and existing moralities to strive. They would mostly be brahman or temple To me, only a strong Fi can create people like Buddha and Jesus;
Even if I am wrong, the imaginary ways of seing INFPs is reductive.

Being introvert intuitives, INFP have obviously a strong sense of ethics and I am furious to be reduce to an emo artsy individual. Sometimes, it's just that people are unfair with INFPs way of seeing the world or how they percieve the world. 😒
My solipsism was severely mistreat as "a crazy idea" I must avowed much people lack arguments against me actually even if I learn a lot from others.

Yes I write and am artistic, but I am also capable of being passionate by sociology, cognitive psychology, artificial intelligence, politics, philosophy, physics, etc.

These stereotypes often made me doubt I was INFPs but I am not mistyped. Sometimes this community is very wrong.

I know a Cancer sun sign INFP and she is the strongest and at the same time the most fragile being that attract other people's protection.

Or is it just because infp are beautiful? Idk.

She never get bullied for some reason even as a joke, people respect her as a woman even with all her flaws and knowing how strong she is, still make their protector instinct comes out.

Those toxic communities doesn't reflect real life.

Also, as an Fi-dom myself, I find that talking about this is just drawing unnecessary attention to the issue, exacerbating the problem as a result. Ironically, Fi-doms themselves are the biggest spreader of this bias.

Other types are subject to unreasonable biases as well. But Fi-doms actively speak up openly about them, enabling people to take advantage, sometimes just for fun.

(Unhealthy) ESTJs are stereotyped as the Karens. But we don't see a lot of ESTJ bashing happening. ENFPs are stereotyped to have attention spans of goldfish. No one talks a lot about this as well.

Why? Because they themselves are not bothered about it. And if they do, they aren't as loud about it as the IxFPs.

Don't get the wrong idea, though. I'm not saying that you shouldn't be talking about this issue. This forum has one of the most reasonable communities, so it's fine to talk about it here. But it's a good idea to understand who are the audience before expressing our opinions.

I am more calm now lol

Description of few sites (I think of the 16personnalities for example) may carry and maintain these stereotypes.

Other types are subject to unreasonable biases as well. But Fi-doms actively speak up openly about them, enabling people to take advantage, sometimes just for fun.
I also read a few comments on another forum saying that Fe is selfless and Fi is selfish. And I was like, what?
Yes what you said here I think is the foundation of what is the problem.
Our affective empathy.

Fi is like living in a big piece of art. It's affective empathy (sympathy) in his essence. Even at the price of not distinguish what is the emotion of other and our own

Fe is cognitive empathy to me. For example, all FJs I know, have very good abilities when it comes to manipulate people (and sometimes to make me culpabilize). My friend, my mom, my stepmother are great communicants. But they lack seriously I think sympathy. They all are extremely self aware of themselves too.

For a reason I ignore I think our (occidental) societies always despise affective empathy (at the exception in the form of art).

It is also really easy to take advantage of people with affective empathy.

So inherently, we are seen as selfish because we feel we are selfish (sympathy is then retroversed as an action, our own "values" Fi) due to our enormous sympathy; and not knowing how much we can be empathetic.

I think when we can see great thinkers INFJ and INTP are the most accepted in the history of philosophy or etc.

It is only recently INFPs ideas have been accepted.

This is not always the case in asian countries, where solipsism and irrealism which I think INFPs are related.

We are introvert intuitive! and so, we act like it! We think almost like an INFJ almost like an INTPs!

The problem of mistype people also is a big question in the MBTI community

I just post this topic because it actually pains me that people would self stereotype themselves. And also because I have the sensation I am reduced to a caricature
I actually would prefer to have deep and interesting subjects with people of my own personnality to see what we have in common
I use MBTI to know myself mostly I am quite frustrated by the absence of common knowledge with ourselves

finally, If you dont have standards how are you gonna have interesting conversation ?

And, I post also because I thought I had an interesting point of thé topic

Oh, hi fellow french INFP! It's true that the stereotypes about us are horribly annoying. I try to ignore it most of the time but it is annoying when we're reduced to crybabies 🤦🏼‍♀️
I also read a few comments on another forum saying that Fe is selfless and Fi is selfish. And I was like, what?
I always had a strong sense of justice and it angers me to be seen, like you said, as "an emo artsy individual".
Let's just ignore those stereotypes though, maybe one day they'll go away🤷🏼‍♀️
