Throughout my elementary years, I was commonly known for being "annoying". People never failed to remind me of how annoying I was and how I needed to shut up for a bit. Although it did lower my self esteem a bit, I never stopped being annoying lol. I'm always the jokester of every group of friends.

It depends. Anyone can be annoying in the right (wrong?) circumstances.

One thing about INFPs and INTPs is that it's easy to get in a situation where they just don't stop talking... which can be annoying.

being annoying is more of an individual thing, people of every type can be annoying. But in general I think I like INTPs, they're relatively similar to INFPs in their tendency to be geeky and love to philosophize and talk about ideas. I'd say they're probably one of the types I'm more likely to feel comfortable with. I do find it annoying when they try to turn everything into a debate.

 

In before the responses from people who type INTP people who aren't annoying as INxJ/ISTP/ENTP and the INTJ/ISTP/ENTP people who are annoying as INTP, leading to that self-fulfilling prophecy...

 

I voted yes because every time I see a long-winded, multi-page-spanning argument where two people have taken over an entire thread with their boring argument over semantics, they're INTP.

EDIT: The vast majority IRL are rather pleasant, though. Even sweet. I get tense when they try to be know-it-alls but those moments are few and far between, and I love being around them. There's a gentleness to them.

I've loved almost every INTP I've ever met. It's like having an identical twin for my mad scientist brain. The only problem is both of us can't focus so my INTJ husband can make the magic happen. lol

INTPs are usually some of the easiest people for me to be around. The only things I tend to have issues with are:

1) The introversion. I'm an introvert, they're an introvert; there are times when neither of us wants to do the talking. They're a lot better at maintaining the silent stand off, so I typically end up giving in and taking up the main share of the talking.
2) The trivia berserk button. There is a long, long list of things I would do before playing bar trivia with an INTP. You guys are effin' vicious with minutia. It gets ugly.

My only issue is with their arrogance, but they think about things that probably no else is capable of thinking of, so it's reasonable for them to a little arrogant. INTPs should run our governments and teach our schools, so that the rest of us can do what we're naturally good at in peace.

They can be, but only when arguing with them. Because I argued with one a few times and showed him MULTIPLE pieces of evidence to support my claim, but that wasn't enough "proof" for him, apparently. And I'm like...what kind of "proof" do you need?? It was a stupid argument anyway....but still....it was annoying...

Hrmm well the people I'd type as INTPs are nothing but adorable and easy to tease and for whatever reason awaken the instinct to cook them the juiciest pasta sauce in existence. The INTPs who self-type themselves are INTPs are pretty damn annoying and passive aggressive, think they are funny but are tacky beyond belief, but that's none of my business really.

I voted yes . . . An INTP who voted themself annoying? *gasp* Yes. Because I actually have a story that pertains directly to this XD. Throughout school, I cared very little what people thought of me. Too little, perhaps. It wasn't that I wanted to actively disrupt the status quo (okay, maybe a little bit), but because I did not realize the status quo existed. Anyways, when I was 12, I sat next to this girl in class who had the nicest handwriting, and I'd somehow convinced myself that it was because she had really nice pencils. I had crappy pencils and my handwriting turned out atrocious! Must have been the pencils. Clearly their fault. So I would ask to borrow one of her pencils. Every day. She never said no. Never told me to stop because it was unreasonable. She was even the first one to offer me the pencil that first day! But then came a day, a few weeks later, when I saw her not-so-discretely making several lists during class to share with her friend. Three lists. "Hate", "Stupid", and "Annoying". She filled them out with the names of her classmates. You can probably see where I'm going with this. Yep, I was on the "Annoying" list. I was kind of proud of that, honestly. But at the same time, in all seriousness, I hadn't even realized what I was doing was annoying (I'm sure it was more than just the pencil thing). I hadn't a single clue. I was quiet, I kept to myself, I silently judged people but never out loud. Yet I was somehow annoying.

So I think part of the reason INTPs are considered annoying, especially when we're young, is that we don't understand what is and isn't socially acceptable. I originally thought that this stereotype was completely ridiculous, until I actually looked back and my life growing up, and even my life now, and realized "Oh, wait. It's true." So I'm not afraid to say yes, I think others will find us annoying. At least until we develop our Fe to a sufficient level. Not to mention, I get along with the INTPs that I know, but I notice that they have a lot to say if it is something they are interested in and there is no off button. It makes it difficult to get a word in edgewise. That can be rather irritating, but sadly, I know I am the same. *sigh* The INTP struggle of knowing your faults and being unwilling to fix them.

Also, I'm seeing a lot of truth about trivia and nitpicking here regarding INTPs haha.
