Do other INFJs have a morbid/dark sense of humor?

I'm guilty. I've laughed during a funeral (when I was about 12). I don't even remember why, I guess something struck me funny. I tried to hide it though, and I did feel bad. I laugh at the weirdest things sometimes (people falling, hurting themselves, etc.). I was even making jokes with family members (who could handle it) after my dad's memorial service about how he should've been taken to a taxidermist and stuffed so we had something to remember him by. D= To be fair, my dad had quite a morbid sense of humor himself. I know he would've laughed about that. But I am not a heartless monster. I'm actually very sensitive and caring. 🙂 But I do hope that at my own open casket funeral the song 'pop goes the weasel' will be playing. 😉

TOTALLY. I created a thread about this. I laughed at a funeral once, too.

My grandmother is ESTP, and she has the same kind of dark humor. This year, three of my oldest relatives died (but not my grandmother). I told her: "please don't go dying on me you too". We laughed. I say this kind of thing all the time.

Well...I have a pretty morbid and absurd sense of humor. When I start a funny conversation with my INTP friend it's usally quickly turn into a twisted styled joking party.
Usally I pretty much use the type of humor which is acceptable for my conversation partner.
I know there are so much people who don't like morbid or dark humor, So I usally don't use this kind of humor around most people.
There are places where this humor is accepted, and there are places where this humor is not accepted.
The same goes with time.
And this is perfect in this way.
Everything has a right time and place.

No not really. My humor is pretty dry and sometimes cynical (if that counts as "dark") but I've never found morbid things funny, or damage to people. It's just too real and horrible to me.
When it's not about the morbid things itself, like instead the flowers or a cast or pain pills, then I have a tendency to search for something amusing in it.

I can, however, empathize with those who find humour in the worst things. Often amusement is a coping mechanism for when we can't control anything but how we feel.
They say the best comedians are people who have suffered greatly, like Robin Williams. As long as people stay sensitive to how others are receiving it during painful times then it's probably a good thing.
Yet there are some few people out there that have a genuine, creepy humor at others expense, and those folks are scary, probably dangerous.

I've noticed I'll laugh sometimes when I'm nervous too, so yeah I agree it can be a coping mechanism. Like being overwhelmed with emotions and you have to have some outlet and for some strange reason it comes out as laughter lol.

I do, at least.

E.g.: Once while my husband and I were driving down the road, we saw this large tree on the side of the highway which had a bunch of different stuffed animals nailed to it (like Big Bird, Cookie Monster, and some other random things). We started speculating about it:

Me:"Usually people do stuff like that on the side of the road when people die somewhere. So, what, did a kid die there or something?"
Husband:"Maybe a bunch of kids died there and there's a stuffed animal for each one."
Me:[Busts into hysterical laughter that continued for much longer than it should]

The idea was just so ridiculous that it killed me. There were tons of plushies nailed to that tree, so I immediately thought of this video:

And it didn't help that my husband -- who milks these kinds of things for all he can get -- was telling me that I was a horrible psychopath and that I should be locked up, that kind of thing.

So, yeah, my sense of humor is kind of fucked up.

Fist bump lol

Got it similar myself sometimes and it is nice that I am not alone here when it comes to dark humor, I think that it is pretty cool to face things head on like with without being crushed by it and that is something missing from people in general. Death is just another stage in life and regardless we all go home in the end.

I really do wish there were more threads like this instead of the toxic relationship bs.
