I'm new to Socionics and I'm trying to explore it from the ground up so I'm still exploring concepts and everything. But the EIE, IEE and ILE profiles are the ones that I seem to relate to the most and I especially relate to dominant NeFi/NeTi or FeNi. In MBTI I always viewed myself as an NT type but in Socionics I'm surprisingly drawn to the ethics types. Maybe because their description of Fi/Fe information elements is actually something that I relate to rather than nicety-harmonic descriptions in MBTI. I prioritize getting things done and finding the best solution or the absolute truth over being nice to people.
I'm also completely open to other typing suggestions btw. I don't have as much of a hold on all the information elements and all their facets yet, especially how they fit into each area of each type.
I've taken a few different types of socionics tests. And I've gotten LIE, LII, ILE, EIE, ESE, IEE, SEI in the past based on the type of test it is. I think I also got ILI once. I'm def ambiverted though I seem to relate to extroverted elements more and I don't feel like I have many of the issues my introverted friends have relating to the world or getting energy to do things. But I also have never had an issue relating to or understanding introverts either. I'm both energized by people and time alone but it's all about balance for me. If I have too much of either I get off-kilter.
Personal concepts
1. What is beauty? What is love? Beauty is a subjective and aesthetic concept that seems different to everyone. Love is... an intimate connection between two people where they care deeply for each other and would sacrifice for one another for the other's greater good? This can be platonic or romantic.
2. What are your most important values? Intelligence. Independence of thought. Competence. Being better than the rest. Thinking deeply about the things you believe in.
3. Do you have any sort of spiritual/religious beliefs, and why do you hold (or don't) those beliefs in the first place? I do but it's... evolving. I was raised in the black Baptist church and in very fundamental ideology and I later disowned it to seek something more open. This was mostly due to the fact that church leaders didn't seem to teach their followers the "whole truth" of the Word that they taught from (including all its inconsistencies and complexities) and they preferred to brainwash them rather than encouraging them to think and reason for themselves how they related to their faith and what God and the Word meant to them. I also didn't appreciate its treatment of my fellow LGBT people. When I dissected the reasons why Christians seemed to hate LGBT folk so much they honestly didn't make as much sense as they'd always claimed and also I saw a lot of injustice in the way that they treated these groups for no reason at all. Simply because you view something as immoral doesn't mean that you need to treat them like an inferior species or like they're dirt. The fact that the church had seemed to brainwash my family didn't help either since they mostly just shut out any open discussion that I tried to have with them on the matter and attempted to wash it out with metaphorical and literal holy water. So I renounced the faith and pursued more open paths and pursued discussion first and dogma later.
4. Opinion on war and militaries? What is power to you? I hate war. It's rather pointless. It's purely in pursuit of selfish goals. Power is ambition? Ambition isn't a terrible thing and neither are like... hierarchies in status. It's just a fact of life. Power is also like... force of will. Making everyone recognize and/or submit to you. Dominance maybe? I can relate to both the ambition and dominance definition. But I try not to display that in every day life for fear of being overbearing. Though people read it on me very easily.
Interests
5. What have you had long conversations about? What are your interests? Why? I recently had this long conversation with a coworker who's studying to be a minister about the church and how the values of its followers today seem to be somehow separate from the values that were proposed in New Testament version of the Word. I also just engaged in a debate with a friend over how "transracial" (aka Rachel Dolezal) and "transgender" were entirely different concepts and I broke down the nuances as to why even though race and gender were similar in terms of being social constructions based off of biological phenotypes they actually were slightly different things and so that changed the validity of whether one could be transracial vs being transgender. (Transracial adoptees notwithstanding because that's a completely different concept)
6. Interested in health/medicine as a conversation topic? Are you focused on your body? Nope. Don't care about my body either unless I have like some sort of horrible health condition that I suddenly find and have to take care of. I like the idea of medicine though since I am in the health field and like learning about different advances and how things work together (like why different medications work the way they do in the body and how exactly they effect different systems). But other than that I'm not very intrigued.
7. What do you think of daily chores? Hate them. Try to avoid them until absolutely necessary.
8. Books or films you liked? Recently read/watched or otherwise. Examples welcome. I'm a film major and a writer so I love too many lol. I tend to like ones that provide an interesting critique or viewpoint on the world. Also ones that look like just your every day cult movie but secretly have a lot of layers hidden underneath to think on. I'm currently thinking of Donnie Darko and Fight Club just because these are two movies I've seen lately but plenty of other films too. TV show wise I have a guilty pleasure for things like Skins and Degrassi. Teen angst, identity formation and drama.
9. What has made you cry? What has made you smile? Why? I don't cry very easily so honestly I don't remember. It was a while ago. I smile at nearly everything. I laugh all the time. I constantly crack jokes and enjoy trading funny/humorous things with friends. Mostly satire about the world or surprising twists on people's statements.
10. Where do you feel: at one with the environment/a sense of belonging? I feel at one with the environment probably when I'm out in nature? Like if I just take a walk through a park and just enjoy the feel of the trees and the air and the sounds and stuff like that. I feel a sense of belonging with a group of good friends who I can have a good time with and who just generally get me. I don't feel that with a lot of people.
Evaluation & Behaviour
11. What have people seen as your weaknesses? What do you dislike about yourself? Over time people have seen my "weakness" as my inability to relate to others and be soft to other people. But honestly like I stated earlier I'm just not a fan of being considerate when it's not called for. If I'm trying to get things done then I have no room for niceties. But when I'm happy and relaxed I'm all about warmth and affection. The closer a person is to me the warmer I get. I tend to divide people along stranger/associate/friend/close friend/lover/family lines. Depending on where they are in the stack they get different treatments. I dislike... that I'm kind of... I "try" to be decisive but I honestly always keep revising my decision every ten seconds after making one so I end up being indecisive and it takes me forever to come to a final conclusion. This is especially apparent on big important decisions. It can take me years. Introspection is also pretty terrible for me. I mostly see myself as reflected by other people so i have no idea who I "truly" am. This could be an Enneagram 3 thing though.
12. What have people seen as your strengths? What do you like about yourself? I get stuff done? Despite my above constant revision of my decisions, when I have to make a decision I'm pretty good at making good ones and immediately acting it out. I recently got myself out of a major legal and financial rut that my ex-girlfriend [attempted to] get me into and I went from court case/eviction notice/$3000 debt to dismissal/two apartments/debt-free with money to spare in three months, just from working my butt off. Everyone kept remarking on how they would never have been able to do it but I just didn't want to submit to failure and defeat so I kept going until I nearly physically collapsed lol. But I still got everything done though.
13. In what areas of your life would you like help? Probably relations with others? I'm pretty good at forming bonds but I just... also suck at it at the same time. I have to be motivated to do it or else I just ignore it and then I notice that I'm lonely later on when none of my usual crowd is available to hang out with and I don't have any other options. Then I have to repeat the cycle of trying to build new friends groups all over again.
14. Ever feel stuck in a rut? If yes, describe the causes and your reaction to it. Yes. It was basically the financial/legal one I noted earlier that I just worked my way out of.
People & Interactions
15. What qualities do you most like and dislike in other people? What types do you get along with? I like competence. I like warmth. I like drama-free people. I dislike ineffectual people. People who can't seem to do anything themselves and always need to rely on others. People who start drama for drama's sake. And people who constantly talk about vapid topics like "who did what" and "who was wearing what today?" It's boring.
16. How do you feel about romance/sex? What qualities do you want in a partner? Romance is great! In theory. In actuality I guess I get in way too deep over my head and then I'm too self-sacrificing for the relationship. So right now I'm taking a break and figuring out what I want if I do want a relationship again. Quality wise I'd want someone fun, interesting, self-sufficient, who doesn't bore me. Also i like ambition and people who generally either know what they want or have some idea of where they want to go in life and want something more out of life. Sex is awesome. I'm not really picky on that level.
17. If you were to raise a child, what would be your main concerns, what measures would you take, and why? I'm not really fit to raise a child. Like in theory it would be fun because I'd get to teach someone my beliefs and new things and kind of mold them into a nice and reasonable person who can take on the world and grow on top of it. But in actuality I'm not good with small children. Apparently I'm too... I don't know. I'm not really harsh with children. But I tend to just treat them like little people with brains of their own and I treat them like they're fully capable of stating their own opinion and knowing what they want (even if it's not totally rational or well thought out yet... just like the kernel of the idea is there). And apparently I either frighten children who aren't used to having to argue their opinions and 'why' they thought that their decision was right and whether it was the most logical or reasonable choice of action or not. Or I apparently am not as 'nice' to children as I should be? I tend to tell them the whole truth and use sarcasm with kids which is apparently not the best thing for a parent to do. I also demand respect and a certain level of responsibility and awareness which is apparently seen as 'mean' to a lot of people. Maybe it's because I do it in a very blunt kind of way? Either way small children just aren't my thing. I always thought that if I had kids I'd probably just adopt a teenager. They're hard to deal with but at least they could rationalize out their thoughts. Kids aren't that good at it yet.
18. A friend makes a claim that clashes with your current beliefs. What is your inward and outward reaction? I'm surprised mostly because most of my friends think similar to me on certain values and because I can generally guess what type of politics my friends have. But I'd question them on why they believe it and open discussion. If they say something that's offensive and close-minded or offensive to a group of people (like Islamophobia or something misogynistic) then I'd probably get offended on the inside but remain calm and rational on the outside. If they were just a dick though then I'd slice them apart with a few words and start taunting or trolling them in their responses thereafter.
19. Describe your relationship to society. How do you see people as a whole? What do you consider a prevalent social problem? Name one. Society is okay? I have no problem with society. People are... people? They're not particularly interesting by themselves. I find social groups and social structures to be very interesting though. Especially how humanity and civilization has formed and why it's formed the way it has. A prevalent social problem is probably just... egotistical behavior and not listening to anyone else's opinion/perspective/experiences? A lot of the modern-day issues we have could've just been avoided if people just spoke to one another and discussed their issues with an open ear.
20. How do you choose your friends and how do you behave around them? I choose friends that are fun and have interesting conversations. I'm a goofball. I'm definitely the jokester and entertainer. I tend to keep a rather professional and put-together face around others I don't know as well though. Unless I'm in a specific situation like a party where I show all out.
21. How do you behave around strangers? Respectful. Polite. I tend to not engage with many strangers unless it's relevant to something I need or interesting to me at the moment. Like if I'm bored then I'll engage. Otherwise I just leave them alone. If I'm looking to specifically connect with people though (like if I go to a group to find new friends) I obviously try to connect with everyone in the room and see if there are any sparks/connections made.
Thank you! I appreciate your help in the typing dilemma. Please let me know if I need to answer anything further in depth.
I'm also completely open to other typing suggestions btw. I don't have as much of a hold on all the information elements and all their facets yet, especially how they fit into each area of each type.
