Angelica Schuyler: I think she is an ExxJ type, probably either an ENTJ or an ENFJ
George Washington: IxTJ?
King George: ExFJ? or ExTJ? He seems like he has Fe
Eliza Schuyler: Definitely an introvert, I agree that she's probably an IxFP, though she could also be an IxFJ
Aaron Burr: an IxxJ, maybe?
Marquis de Lafayette: ESxP?
Hercules Mulligan: ESTP?
Thomas Jefferson: An extroverted type. ENTJ sounds right to me
Philip Hamilton: ExFP? or ExFJ?

 

Reviving this thread to go ahead and say that I suspect Lin Manuel Miranda is an ENFP.

 

I agree. He acts a LOT like most of the Ne-doms I've seen. Also, something about him gives me more of an ENFP vibe than an ENTP vibe. I think I feel this way because with the way he acts he reminds me of Ellen DeGeneres, who I am pretty sure is either an ENFP or an INFP. But he still could be an ENTP despite that.

But there's something very Fi about Miranda. He's so...passionate, invested...all the time)) ENTPs tend to be a little more...detached.

 

From what I've seen (or heard) I'd guess:
Alexander Hamilton: ENTP, So 3w2, also seems 7-fixed? And 1-fixed.
Angelica Schuyler: ESFJ, seems like a 7w6 indeed. "Satisfied" seems pretty Frustration and Head triad.
Eliza Schuyler: ISFJ or INFP, sx 9w1
Aaron Burr: ISFJ seems fair, not sure about his ennea, but he gives me a sort of 5w6ish impression? Thinking 359 in some order for his tritype. So-dom (like most of the musical).

King George makes me think ENFJ (and 2w3) but not sure lol.

 

So I said ISFJ for Burr but now I'm thinking if it's 'cause the Musical is kinda Fe in general so whoever wrote it might be a Fe type thus giving it that bias/impression for most characters, and maybe he's more Te or something after all.

Anyway, I'm curious about the type 9-impression for Burr? Like I think he probably has a 9(w8)-fix, but aside from that he seems like a head-type to me, particularly 5 like I said. Especially when I listen to In The Room Where it Happens, I get a pretty Head type+Power-seeking impression. Even Wait For It, which is kinda sappy I guess, gives me the image of a snake lying in wait ("I am the one thing in life I can control", "I'm not standing still/I'm lying in wait"), which again makes me think of 5.

Also thinking 7-core might make more sense for Hamilton, even if I said 3 before.

 

You make a good case for 5. I'll need to think on it more, the way he just sort of goes along with whatever seemed 9 to me, but I thin I may switch to 5.

I don't think the play is particularly Fe (I mean for a musical). And I really think Lin-Manuel Miranda uses Fi-Te, so I don't think the Fe-ness of Burr is due to the writer).

Hmmm maybe Hamilton is a 7. There is a lot of 7, but that might be the writer bleeding through. Hamilton cares quite a lot about his image. He made his biggest blunder because he wanted to save his "good name" (apparently thinking corruption would tarnish it, but not adultery :rollseyes. He is either a 3 with a strong 7 fix or a 7 with a strong 3 fix. I'm open to either. Do you have particular reasons for thinking he is a 7? I'd love to hear them)

Yeah I thought 3 at first because he does seem to care about his worth, but then I was thinking about how for example, Burr advices him to "talk less, smile more" and that doesn't seem like the kind of lesson a type 3 has to learnSo I was thinking maybe 3-fix makes more sense than 3-core, and I mean, he does seem to be pretty... frustration-driven? But heh, there was a reason I went with a 3-typing for him in the first place I guess.

Anyway, I got to admit I haven't actually seen the whole musical yet, heh.

But for Burr, I don't get the impression he's going along with things out of sloth or anything like that, so much as he's holding himself back for more fear-based reasons ("I hold my plans close to my chest" etc), but 9-fix seems fair yeah.

However, I'm not sold on Hamilton. Burr's advice isn't something that fits Hamilton's image, at all. His advice is for a different kind of 3. Hamilton sees himself as "young, scrappy and hungry"; someone who is proactive: willing to stand up for his beliefs and fight for his ideas. He does not wait. He gets a lot more done by ignoring Burr's advice.

 

I still think Hamilton is an ENTJ 3. Just a 3 with strong convictions.

Anyways, for 3 -- something fun about 3 is that it's a very capitalist type -- it's the sort of type to brag that they 'started at the bottom'. Real Alexander Hamilton seems to have tried as hard as possible to deny his humble roots (which I don't think makes him NOT a 3), but the focus in the musical is how he rose up.

I think Hamilton's an ENFP. He says a many "Se-ish" things, but he's surrounded by Se-users. (Lafayette, for sure. Possibly Burr.)

Think Ne's more likely to shoot off the mouth than Se.
He's a little scattered. He doesn't have just one goal, he has many goals that are building together into this enormous ball of...I don't know, something huge.

And while he's played by an ENFP, the same ENFP that wrote the musical--I'm not sure it's enough to dismiss it just an an ENFP portrayal of an Se or Ni character. Aside from the fact that he's a protagonist, Hamilton talks. A lot. We can all be chatty, but he's the kind of chatty that weaves ideas into and out of reality. I know some people like that. It's super impressive.

Even paired with Te, Ni would be fewer words; more direct; and less metaphor, deeper focus, everything laden with meaning. Not sure that's where Hamilton's at.

 

I'd personally guess Hamilton is an 8 or 6. I can see where people could think 3 but he doesn't seem to me like he's trying to get the accomplishments to impress people and wear them like medals, which is how I typically see a 3 act. 8's tend to also be more active/competitive in my opinion as well as more up front. He also doesn't seem to care what people think of what he says based on the Adams Administration and many other times where he always spoke his mind which kinda undermines the whole point of the 3 which is to get people to be impressed with them/like them.

 

Now that I have seen the musical once in person (tour) and on Disney+, I think I can type the characters.

Hamilton - at first I thought he was a 3 (as I am), but then I realized that he doesn’t care who he pisses off as he gets the job done, where threes care greatly about image. He is a 1–a perfectionistic and relentless Reformer. His MBTI is ENTP—he loves being in front of a crowd, flies by the seat of his pants (very intuitive), but he is decisive and driven by his ideals. He is okay with changing his mind if there is a better way.

Burr - at first thought he was a 6. Nope, he is a 5w6. Most of his thoughts stay in his own head, and his “talk less, smile more” mantra confirms that he is willing to shift with more information and research. He is an ISTJ. He needs confirmation for everything, and seems to be an observer in order to make his decisions.

Eliza - type 2w1, the Helper. Clearly. She is an INFP. She painstakingly helps Hamilton achieve his legacy.

Angelica - type 8w7 the commander with a touch of spontaneity and fun. She is a force of nature. She’s an ESTJ. She is practical and tactical, decisive and careful. She hides her true feelings under a veneer of happy-go-luckiness.

Washington - 6w5. The brilliant loyalist. He apologizes when others don‘t meet his high expectations. He is an ESFJ. He weighs the data and acts accordingly.
