How do you keep motivated to workout?

I'm trying to adapt an daily workout routine, where I will do a rather short cardio workout at home, however I have trouble because it still feels tiring and I have to take extra rest every now and often. Not to mention, sometimes I feel like my workout plan wont work and feels like I am wasting time and energy.

How do you keep up and motivated to workout?

This is what I am currently following (I'm skipping the last workout part because I get too tired and I find myself completely out of breath)

I'm 5'5 in height, and last time I weighted I was around 71 kg, not sure if this is considered overweight or not I just look a little bit skinny fat, just small love handless and fat on my thighs, I assume my body fat level is 19% to 22% if I'm not wrong.

Do you guys have any tips?

I have found that changing the gym I am working out at every 4-5 years helps me to get motivated. Changing the gym helps it to feel new. Kind of like when you are a kid and you get a new toy, it is easy to play with because it is new. After a while it loses it's appeal. So changing the gym I am working out is something that has helped me.

Don't rely on motivation, focus on creating a habit of doing a little bit each day. I have a walk nearly every day and I don't have to put much thought into it because it's a habit and I don't make it difficult to start. For example, my shoes are always put at the door where I can see them and put them on easily.

One tip I'd give is to switch up your routine and find an activity that you enjoy. Don't just stick with cardio if you're feeling like it's tiring and draining all your energy. Maybe try some resistance training or even a fun fitness class. Mixing things up can help keep it fresh and exciting. Lots of good suggestions here! @Hexigoon 's mention of having shoes ready at the door reminded me:

Years ago, I mentioned the hassle of changing into and out of exercise clothes. Someone suggested putting my exercise clothes on first thing every morning. I've done this ever since.

For me, this means leggings and either sport top or T-shirt. If I'm going out, I just put on my other clothes (e.g., skirt) over the exercise clothes.

Of course, it depends on your lifestyle and clothing style (and how much you sweat!). But it sure works for me.

Working out for me is like putting engine oil in my car.

It’s non negotiable, doesn’t matter how I feel about it or how motivated I am, it’s simply a necessity for your physical and mental health.

So as Nike says; Just do it.

I’ve done everything from sports to f45 CrossFit and plain old just lifting. My go to “minimum maintenance” is 20kms of distance running per weak, bench, pull up, shoulders, curls, once theminimum is met, I’ll add other stuff on top like play a sport, go on a hike, sprinting, boxing etc…

I don’t really reward myself or think I’ve completed some kind of accomplishment for doing it since it’s expected from me so that translates to feeling guilty or bad for skipping days which works well coz I rarely skip. I could enter a run depressed and finish feeling content.

That’s my views on exercise anyway, remember, it’s a necessity.

  • Remember the reason. For me - mental clarity, regulate stress, mental health, boosts endorphins (happiness! It's own reward), cool fresh air, feeling energetic throughout the day to be productive and have fun, health reasons (Most of these are intrinsic rewards too).
  • Build the habit focusing on performance. Habits are fragile at the beginning. Be consistent, not intense. Even if its one-rep.
