Hi everyone, I started this thread to see if anyone knows what their Ayurvedic dosha types is. I'm a vata and I know the MBTI and dosha type tell me some similar and also different things about myself, but both pretty much have me nailed. I'd like to elaborate on my findings and get some feedback but first I'm hoping to get this thread going. Don't know much about enanogram types but I'll look into it in the very near future. If you have the slightest inclination to respond to this post then please do so. Thanks.

Meh I only relate to the ones in red.

I am sceptical about this sounds bogus to me tbh, but appreciate the concept behind it.

Hmm, I've never done this before. Earth is one of the elements I hold in high regard though, so I like it.

It's a fun test to take but I think it mainly serves as a marketing ploy.

Hmmm, I was asking because the only other INFP I've ever met had a vata constitution like me and I read that most INFP's were ectomorphic which mirrors my observation. Looking around the room I see a lot of dosha variety so I think I have my answer. There's no simplistic connection between body type and personalty. I have to say I'm somewhat disappointed because lots of the vata qualaties like being an energy spender and strongly needing to be more grounded and routine oriented seemed so precise in my case even down to my irratic sleeping and eat patterns. I usually don't believe in coinsidence but maybe that all it is, oh well.

I'm a Kapha 7.

I am a Pitta-Vata type, but according to Joyful Belly, Banyan and others. Not sure what to think about D. C. It does seem very likely this is what I am. However, some people do not differentiate between Vata-Pitta and Pitta-Vata, so that's something to look out for. Because, Vata-Pitta is more thin and long in facial shape, more thin of bone and elfin'esque in general while Pitta-Vata is maybe a more delicate Pitta but not nearly as much as a reguar one or even a Vata-Pitta. Sturdy, athletic, commanding but somehow waifish. And, that's me.

I used to be more vata and perhaps kapha with definitely an undercurrent of pitta...with my easy blush and hot headedness...

But now I would say I have more of a kapha imbalance since I've gotten fat and vata might come out when I can't sleep at night, when I overthink too much.

I love spicy food so it's probably good I'm not as pitta as I could be. I don't really like sweet food or cold food that much--

I drink too much--alcohol is just considered a general energy drain for doshas--it steals and dispels the vital energy and causes chronic drained and weakness of all dosha, I think. It's considered something that basically just removes all dosha vital life force.

It may be I was more balanced as a child, with all three doshas, since I have qualities of all.

Everyone has qualities of all three doshas. But, most people have a primary dosha that is what they were born to be and which needs to be pacified at times to keep it from getting unbalanced and causing further imbalance in one or both of the other doshas. Some people have two primary doshas and, only very rarely, does a person have all three. If they take a test and they lookTridoshic, that's probably more about how unbalanced they are. Loving spicy food is a very Pitta thing and it imbalances them. Just like Kapha loves rich foods and it imbalances them. In either case, it adds in too much of what they already are.

Hotheadedness is also very Pitta. So, you are probably Pitta with imbalanced Kapha and Vata. I am not hotheaded except when extremely imbalanced, but, I am a Pitta-Vata blend so the Vata is very cooling. The good news is that if you are PItta and not a blend, by balancing your Pitta, you should more easily be able to achieve total balance. The blends have to really honor the season they are in that pertains to their blend, but while still trying to balance the other part(s) of the blend.

The whole thing is very confusing. And, if you read the right books, it gets even more so because a lot of what is taught in books you can find on Amazon or on the sites is sort of Ayurvedic Lite.

When it comes to my body shape as a child--I was thin but also curvy--delicate and smaller than most people--not muscular, but with a layer of fat...I think as a kid I worried I was "skinny fat"

Vata and kapha I think.

I had dark features like kaphy but also an easily excitable mind that would overthink and prone to anxiety from vatta.

Now I am imbalanced with kapha and probably more prone to pitta outbursts. But still pretty calm.

I actually like Ayurveda a lot. Perhaps I'll try to incorporate it more in my healing. So still think vatta-kapha or kapha-vata but also pitta so perhaps naturally I am pretty balanced in all three dosha, or they affect different parts of my system...vata for the mind, kapha and pitta more for the body.

I can put on muscle quickly as well--due to pitta. But now in adulthood I find it almost impossible to lose weight. I have to get so depressed I entirely stop eating and I refuse to think that's anything close to healthy.

I think it's the stress in my life--vata stressed will eventually cause weight gain due to cortisol levels being higher--along with sleeplessness.

Perhaps it would also help to look at the balance of Mahabhutas?

Since each dosha is really just a combo of 1-2 of them?

  • Vata Dosha is composed of Akasa (ether) and Vayu (air) Mahabhutas.
  • Pitta Dosha is composed of Tejas or Agni (fire) and Ap Mahabhutas.
  • Kapha Dosha is composed of Ap (water) and Prithvi (earth) Mahabhutas.

So perhaps someone can have strong water in Pitta that amplifies the water in Kapha? But maybe have very little earth in Pitta, and instead more Ether in Vata etc. So they will be more Ether, water, fire.

I mean, is there a reason why that can't be like that?

Or is it that if you have say dominant Kapha dosha (water and earth) then it will push your Pita to become more Fire--idk...I really don't know that much about doshas.
