Dumbest-ESFP(They are generally irrational, act based on feeling and sensory expirence, and never plan anything) What I mean by Sensory is like they might eat since eating feel good, have sex since sex feels good, and basically how they react to things. You cant have an intelligent discussion with them since they only focus on feelings and how they perceive things. This is just the ones I have known though. They were typed ESFP.

Smartest- INFJ, ESFJ, INTP

ENFP can be smart but I think whats more Notibly is they are probobly the most Empathetic type there is.

You, specifically you, might not be able to have an intelligent conversation with ESFPs. But other people can. Just for the record.

I know a couple of dumb INTJs. I also know a particularly dumb ISTJ and ESTJ. I'd consider them to be dumb because they think that they're more intelligent than other people, but they fail to realise that most people can see straight through their bullshit. They're good at spewing out information they've heard from elsewhere, but have no original ideas. But it's mainly their perceived intellectual superiority that makes them dumb.

Smartest person I know is an INTP.

Depending on what kind of intelligence -
If we're measuring rationality - i would say Ti doms

However from observation most of the most intelligent all around people I have encountered in real life have been Infps - on this website - my vote will be on intps or infjs

I think stupidity and smarts transcend anything to do with MBTI. Cognitive preferences are only the way to get there.

Oh good, just what the world needs, more pointless stereotypes that box people into 'stupid'.

Edit: Okay, that was sarcastic and rude. But honestly I hate to see MBTI used to try to value or devalue people. I know it's just for fun, but S types are constantly belittled and made to feel stupid by N types, there's no need to spread more of that around.

Smartest: INxPs and to be honest pretty much every type. I know an ISTJ who is very smart and deep.
Dumbest: Maybe Se doms? I don't know if intelligence is related to type -I doubt it- but I'd say people who are easy to manipulate in general, of any type.

Dumbest: ISTJ (old friend), ISFP (acquaintance), ESFP (acquaintance), ISFJ (acquaintance), ESFPs (much of my dad's family).

Smartest: INTJ (dad), ENTJ (stepmom), INTP (cousin), INTP (cousin), ENFJ (old friend).

Some smart people I've met: ENTPs (college friend & dad), ENFP (college friend), ISTP (college friend), INTJ (college friend)
Some dumb people I've met: INTJ (college friend), ISFJ (mom) sorry :(

It's suffice to say that I don't follow the stereotypes that Intuitives are the smart ones while Sensors are the dumb ones, because I've met many examples where those aren't the case. It's just more likely that Intuitives value more the Intuitives kind of logic while Sensors value more their kind of logic.

i've encountered some pretty ditzy ESFJs
not that any type is inherently smart or stupid, of course

You of all people should hate the idea of trying to associate type with intelligence since studies show that ISFPs are among the lowest IQs.
i've known some very worldly ISFPs, intelligence isn't just in IQ.
a great deal of brilliant musicians and songwriters are ISFP.

I think there are different kinds of smart, lol. My INTP cousin is very book-smart and gets good grades but he's not the brightest person otherwise. My ExFJ sister is the opposite, she isn't the best at school, but she's one of the smarter people I know when it comes to real life situations.

The four seemingly smartest people have so far been INTX and EXTP.

By "smart", I mean either very knowledgable or very good at getting things done.

Haven't met a dumb or stupid person.
^This. Sure, there are "dumb" and "stupid" people in the world --- comparitively speaking, but MBTI actually has very little to say about intelligence in types - except some descriptions that are poorly worded.

One of the things is that people are not acknowledging one very simple thing. It's reverse relationing ... meaning that they see a smart person, at the same time they have an association of smartness with a particular type therefore they type that person as the type they associate with intelligence hence reinforcing that stereotype further and saying "well, the smart people I know are such and such type, therefore such and such type are innately intelligent" ... Nope, that's not what this system is designed to help anyone do. At all.

On the flip, people who associate stupidity and type would do the same. Type everyone they deem stupid to be one of the types they already deem stupid.

If typing works and is a good system, then the best way to work through the jumble is to go beyond the most standard and easily accessible descriptions on the top google pages and read the resources on cognitive functions and how they work that don't show up on the first page of a quick and easy google search.

It's taken me 7 years of off and on passing interest in the system to develop an understanding of this system (it is indeed more complex than I gave it credit) and while 6 years ago, I was considered well read on the subject by some here (I considered myself one too), I only recently realized that even then I barely got into the system as in-depth as I should / could have.

The fact that this is posted specifically on an ISFP column is a way of putting a dump on an ISFP's ever present low self esteem in this world. I suggest we all agree unanimously that we are all dumb and move on to other worthier threads.

Trust me, after a while once you see just how transparent people's assertions are about other people, you'll realize that this site has a LOT of content that belongs on r/iamverysmart

A lot of people in this site using this system are hilariously unaware of just how easily convinced of stereotypes they are. The system itself plays a part in this, but a lot of stuff that doesn't even belong or was never expressed in as literal terms as people take them for is expressed far too often.

It becomes truth through repetition and validation - and that is all confirmation bias.
