I think he is ENFP.

How do you guys like him?
Do you find yourself relating to him?
what things you do not like about him?(if any)

I surprisingly like Spongebob no idea why though.

I think he's incapable of being typed... they took artistic license with him so that there's no consistent MBTI personality... he switches.

I personally don't think so but it is really hard to type a character like him IMO.

I originally hated Spongebob when I first saw the show but if I happen to come across it these days I most likely won't change the channel.

I love spongebob! he's so funny!
I like spongebob because he's so strange
do I relate to him? hmmm never thought of it, but we'd probably be best buds because of his humour
what don't I like about him? He isn't deep xD lol thinking of spongebob as being deep is funny, but i dislike the fact that he can't take a day off his job! ugh it annoys me for some reason.

:ninja: go ninjas!

I think when Spongebob is actually being sane, he's an ENFP. Otherwise he can't be typed. I remember in that episode where he had to take care of a homeless Squidward, (who eventually became a leech), Spongebob was very much an ENFP in that he was incredibly patient, compassionate, and eager to help. The Ne/Fi was obvious, especially when he eventually became furious with Squidward. Other times when he's goofing off with Patrick, I'm not sure what I'm looking at...

This was in the ENFP section :/

lol but kewl

I thought he was ENFP.

I used to think he was an ESFJ/ENTP, strong Ne & Fe, but now that I've started watching the show again, I think ENFP is more accurate. What about the other character's types? I would guess it's something like:

Patrick: xSFP, I think he was more of an I in the beginning, but as the show goes on he starts seeming more spontaneous & ESFP-ish

Squidward: IxTJ, I have a hard time telling if he uses Ni or Si

Sandy: ESTP

Mr. Krabs: ESTJ

Plankton: xNTJ, I can't decide between ENTJ & INTJ

Gary: INTP

Karen: INTP

Pearl: ESFP

Mrs. Puff: ISFJ

The Flying Dutchman: ENTP

Hm I think Squidward is INTJ he doesn't do his job very well ,doesn't take anythin but his own illusions of grandeur into consideration and a constant complainer but never a doer. Not sayin INTJ do this lol but those are some of the reasons why I don't think he is ISTJ.

Hum I think Spongebob is a definetly a NF type. hes very creative and has alot of Ne. (brain thoughts and ideas) He also seems to have alot of Fe/Fi so I'm gonna guess ENFP for sure for the time being.

This is one of my favorite shows, and I'm probably a little late replying to this thread, but oh well.

Yeah, even though it's difficult to label a character like SpongeBob SquarePants within these personality types given, I'd consider him generally an ENFP.

Just for fun, I'll try doing the other main characters as well.

Patrick: ESFP (I don't think he's that introverted)
Squidward: INTJ (He seems less prone to following orders than an ISTJ, plus he seems more abstract)
Mr. Krabs: ESFJ
Plankton: INTJ
Sandy Cheeks: ENTP
Gary: INTP

Alright...

Spongebob: ESFJ
Patrick: ISFP
Squidward: INTx, leaning INTP actually
Mr. Crabs: ESTJ
Plankton: ENFJ... his plans always have gaping logical flaws in them, Ti inferior... I think he's just lonely, he wants to steal the formula so his restaurant will be successful, the one episode where he does have a loyal costumer he is overjoyed and doesn't care at all about stealing the formula
Sandy: ESTJ or ENTJ
Pearl: ESFJ in a very different way than Spongebob
Gary: ISTP.. I don't think he appreciates spongebob very much actually

also I think Fe-dom for plankton because of the robot wife he created for himself, he is just lonely!

Going on surface value:

SpongeBob: ENFP
Patrick: ISTP
Squidward: ISTJ
Mr. Krabs: ESFJ
Plankton: INTJ
Sandy: ENFJ
Pearl: ESFP
Mrs. Puff: ISFJ
Gary: INTP
Karen: ESTJ
Larry Lobster: ESTP
Mermaid Man: ESFP
Barnacle Boy: INTJ
The Flying Dutchman: ENTP

This is my take. SpongeBob is my favourite cartoon. :p

He could be an ESFJ... Spongebob is an emotionally-expressive people-pleaser who aims to "please the customer", showing strong Fe. His loyalty to the Krusty Krab and concern about rules seem very Si. A very well-developed Ne tertiary function could make him appear ENFP, but he has too much Si to be an ENFP and seems to use Fe over Fi.

Patrick: ISFP, could be ESFP.

Sandy: ENTP

Mr. Krabs: ESTJ

Squidward: Lazy IxTJ or unhealthy ISFP.

Plankton: ENTJ, could be an introvert.

Spongebob: ESFJ (as stated before, he seems very focused on pleasing the customers and has often sacrificed doing or saying certain things to others in order to sustain peace. Note how he always goes to work every day, freaks out when he's late (then becomes apologetic and seems to enjoy doing things by the book, he never gets bored of doing the same thing every day as long as it pleases those around him. The Ne that he does express could just be a well developed tertiary function which ESFJs have.)

Squidward: Unhealthy ISFP (I don't see him as being an Si+Te user at all, he doesn't seem to care much about any of his responsibilities, especially if he doesn't enjoy them. He's pretty shitty at his job and doesn't handle responsibility very well. And remember how sick he got of routine when he ended up moving to that squidwill or whatever place? He puts a lot of value in physical aesthetics (I've noticed Fi-Se users to do this often) and puts most of his effort in the things he likes (practices this clarinet without caring whether others it him or not). Perhaps since he's unhealthy, he can portray ENTJ since that's his shadow which may be why people pin him as an INTJ?)

Patrick: ISFP (Patrick is pretty stupid and that makes it difficult to pin point his type. But he seems to love to follow spongebob on adventures and seems like a very flexible character. I don't see him as being an extrovert though.)

Mrs. Puff: ISFJ (I don't think she'd be able to put up with Spongebob as well if she wasn't and demonstrate so much patience towards him despite not liking him. The way she teaches boating school and how (rather than improvising in order to get spongebob to pass or changing her method) she goes about it the traditional way while generally suppressing his own emotions to sustain peace).

Mr. Crabs: ESTJ (I don't see him as being a Fe user, I think his method of going about to get what he wants seems quite Te+Fi, but I may be wrong. He seems to pinpoint and remember a lot of details about objects, where he got them from, etc (like in that episode where spongebob thought he was a robot and wanted to fuck all his stuff up) so this reason I'd lean towards Si user.)

Pearl: ESFP (For the most part, I think he personality is pretty constant compared to the other characters, and that's probably since she's not aired often. Her focus seems very Se+Fi (especially at her prom and such). Don't see much if any Ne in her. And I think ESFP is what most people guessed anyways, so there's probably little arguments on that).

Plankton: INTJ or messed up IxFP (Absolutely no use of Ne (or if any, it's a very underdeveloped function in him). But I also question the Ni+Te which other people claims he has. He doesn't really spend all that much time thinking his ideas through, considering whether they're logical and checking whether they're fool proof. He just kind of... wings it with similar methods every time and gets fucked over. But that's probably since this is a kids show and/or he's kind of stupid. On that note, I don't see him as being an Ti+Fe user either. But why not an unhealthy Fi+Te user, who's holding onto his messed up values due to past events between the two and using his under developed Te to obtain them? That might imply that he's a fucked up INFP or ISFP, and I doubt that. So I'd go INTJ I guess :p)

Sandy: ESTP (I can see why some might argue ENTP or ENFP for her, but I think she's a fairly clear Ti+Fe user. Her love for extreme sports and physical activity as well as competition (note how much she loves the karate match her and spongebob had that one time) makes me lean towards Se. I've seen little to none examples of her demonstrating NE and ESTP can also have a fascination and interest with science.)

Gary: INTP (I'm basing this off of that one dream episode where Gary actually spoke.)

The Flying Dutchman: ENTP (because he's fucking awesome.)

(not sure whether I should feel proud of ashamed that I took half an hour to analyze a cartoon show).
