The Great Sausage Duel of 1865,
Rudoph Virchow finds a large number of Germans dying after consuming sausages because conditions in the sausage factories are not sanitary. Trichinella parasites are rampant. Virchow is promoting government intervention to force the sausage makers to clean up their act, but this will cost money, and the Prussian Chancellor, Otto Von Bismark does not want to spend that money on public health issues, he's keen to spend money on defense. Virchow's criticism of Von Bismark's policies eventually leads the Chancellor to challenge him to a duel.
