So the other day I was getting groceries at this chain that I go to every week or so..

upon arriving home, i realized i bought the wrong oranges, so I went back about two hours later to return them in exchange for the right ones..

I had my receipt, so everything's should be fine, I thought.

(Side note; I am employed by this company, though at a different store)

it ended up being like pulling teeth;

the assistant manager told me that I can not make any returns without the store manager present, yet she went ahead anyways..

she then stapled the new and original receipt together, wrote the store number I work at on the front, as well as my name..

She told me that she will call the store i work at and verify with the store manager about my return..

She kept my receipts and said she can make a copy for me if necessary..

------

1) Since when do you need a manager present to make returns?? or was it because I work there?

2) Why did they want to save my receipt?

For a private introvert (infp) this stressed me out a bit..

- check the company policy on this
2) Why did they want to save my receipt?
-not sure, perhaps to avoid re use of the receipt at another store? once again check company policy

You bought the wrong oranges? were they marked as different ones or something? sounds like an error on your part

For a private introvert (infp) this stressed me out a bit..
was it worth it? did you get the oranges you desired?

1) Sounds like something you probably should have asked her, no?
2) Same as 1)

Why did it stress you out?

I <3 INTJs.

Did you get your oranges? yes.
Did you have to tell her where you worked? No. But, perhaps there is a policy and such that someone thought, hey let's make a policy to prevent store workers sneak oranges and somehow receipts (assuming a client left them around) and return to another store. Does it make sense though? No. Because even if you have paid cash, the store number etc. will be different. Did you do anything wrong? No. In the worst case there are cameras to confirm your actions, not that they can claim anything, but at most refuse your return.
Some people are just irrational and acts like they are the law officers and regulators of the universe. Or maybe she was just new or having a day. Possibly going to check with the manager when he returns, probably why she kept the receipt, but I think they usually take a copy, and give yours back? No need to think twice about something that shouldn't bother you.

I personally shy away from returning food, but the other day I had enough when I found hair in my 4+ dollar bread and took it back, I put the slice with hair in a ziplock and I was showing it to the guy and he was like, mam, can I see the bread, I need to see if it is one of our products - I had put the loaf on the counter in a bag of the store. That felt awkward, I mean...I don't even have difficulty returning electronics, even wigs or costumes, but bread with hair in it and I didn't even eat one slice of it btw. None. I thought they should be ashamed not me D: I perfectly undrstand it is life and that happens but I just didn't want to have it :/ I had previously found bugs in triple washed salad, multiple times but never returned it, and that store always gets the best award, maybe it is only me who analyzes their food Idk. But I once or twice had to leave bread in store because the person didn't take off their cleaning gloves while slicing it. So, anyways, I was treated like I was some homeless guy who found some bread and conveniently a receipt and took it back to store. It just doesn't make sense, but I sure didn't plan to eat that bread, didn't want to trash my money and for once I thought I would let them know too, so they would be more careful or something. My coworkers can't praise that shop enough, and yea it is good too but now I can't eat washed salads without washing them again and I have switched to cereals in the morning :|||

Hello FreeSpirit777.

If you are not coming for solutions, be careful that INTJs can be solution-oriented.
And I, as an example, may not be innately good at empathizing the emotion of people well.

I would recommend that you can dig into your feeling of stress.
Do you find the act of assistant manager unreasonable?
Or is that "finding a reason for the act of assistant manager" makes you uncomfortable?

I know INFP can pull themselves to Si (Fixation of an event) and Te (Asking for reasons) function when stressed.

According to what I have learned in MBTI,
INFP can better use Ne to explore the event objectively.
Not inside the head. Not being judgmental.
But do something that can help you understand and widen the horizon.

The easiest way I can think of is to genuinely talk to the assistant manager about your concerns.
Maybe you can gain a different perspective from it. Who knows.

Hope it helps.
