Time is relative I do that a lot. For you this is 5 months for him it's just been some time. I can stop talking with my closest friends for 1- 2 months(sometimes one year) and then just write to see if they are still alive and talk on a daily basis with them for 3 days just to stop talking again

Lol, this is classic INTP behavior. Probably thought of you but just didn't know how else to start things up again...so he went right into it.

Yeah, I think her concern is the whole texting 'game'. I've heard of this before, but I never really paid it any mind.

The texting 'game' is a game of flirtation, apparently, when the two parties involved try to avoid texting as much as possible without having the other party lose interest.

So if you respond too quickly or with too much information, you can be seen as too eager.

I never understood, so I just texted people at my own pace. That means the window between two texts can range anywhere between one second and a year. I think that most INTPs either a) don't understand the game or b) never cared to play, so your INTP guy probably didn't mean anything by the delayed time range.

He probably did think of you, but was too shy to text. Or in the worst case scenario, he kept procrastinating on texting you back.

 

I say B which equals A. If I like someone, I'm not going to play games. you either like me, or you don't. I am either good enough or I'm not. Either way, I am going come in like someone who is sincerely interested(which to most people equals eager I think), and if you reject me, I'm gone.

I'm an old man, I have no time for games.

 

Get used to it. INTPs disappear, but that doesn't mean you are not in their heads.

 

ah, but we are spoiled by other people...

people that likely develop friendships more quickly, and generally have more friends everywhere they go...

while many of us are reduced to those bosom buddies and kindred spirits, having far fewer friends at any given time... but likely those friendships that build over a lifetime.

My, what antiquated creatures we are... no wonder we have such a collection of books.

 

Normal, understandably not really acceptable for everyone.

 

I do this a lot. I think 5 months is a bit too much, but it's not hard to believe. My normal time is a couple of weeks.. I don't see or talk or text my college friends for a month or more, and then meet them like nothing happened. They go like "You bastard! You cut class so much omg long time" and I'm like "We're still the same people. Chill." Just tell him not to be so inconsistent. INTPs appreciate honesty. He won't say "She told me the truth. What a bitch!" so just tell him that.

 

It just means he missed you, it's hard to read more than that into it.

 

It's definitely nothing to be worried about. Having a first and second date that are 8 months apart, or getting a text from a long-time friend that just says "Respond to this text, asshole" are standard operating procedure for many INTP's.
