I always find these things hard to talk about. Because like all types, the subtypes of 6w5's can be so different depending on their Tri Type and Instinctual variant.

Someone with a social instinct can be so different from someone with a self-preservation instinct.

A good example of a 5w6 with an 8 fix would be Russ Hudson.

I like to watch this video from time to time because it reminds me of simple structure explained as only a 5w6 with a healthy 8 fix can explain. The line between point five and point eight has a real use and it's good to have examples of all the connecting lines between all the points.

It's also good to view the contrast between like the So/Sx and Sp/sx and the So/Sp and Sp/So and the Sx/So and Sx/Sp.

And also, other contrasts like Sx/Sp and So/Sp and so on.

The contrasts are like two sides to the same coin or two end on the same seesaw.

5w6 brake things down really well and point eight has a connection with loost/personal power of an esoteric nature. Power that helps the self to, to clearly relate. It's not quite the same power as point nine or point one.

When Russ mentions the medium in that video it reminds me of all those subtle contrasting polarities even the one that exist within different sets of trinary, (3, 6, 9,) (8, 5, 2,) (7, 4, 1,) and the instinctual trinary s.

And the sutler ones like the Sp/Sx and Sx/Sp it's not just a dual (Sp/Sx and Sx/Sp) its trinary because the three excretions of negative neutral positive can be in play. A dual e.g. (Sp/Sx) that can have six actions. (Sp) can be negative neutral positive and also (Sx) can be negative neutral positive, it could be two negative's two positives two neutrals which would mean the Sub Conches is actively in play. I think of the six instinctual energies as both a dual and, a trinary. The bifurcation represented by the forward slash is the neutral and the positive is the side Primarily favoured, and the negative is the auxiliary side less favoured. It's a contextual thing.

Two duals like Sx/Sp and So/Sp can be like a five in the context of (positive negative) Neutral (negative positive). The two neutrals one from each the Sx/Sp and So/Sp act as one neutral its a harder state to presence, it requires the receding of the egoic mind set to its innate optimal operational role. But at that level all twelve are likely to be in play.

The central thirteenth represents the authentic self as the witness. Witnessing actions in play via free will.

So basically 2 questions:
1. How do you see 8 fix affecting your core 5w6?
2. What's wing on your 8 fix?

Backstory: I have been in enneagram for years and typed myself pretty quickly, once I understood the basics of the theory. I typed myself as 8w9 fix. Purely for the extra dose of introversion and because I don't relate to overaggressive descriptions of an 8 (a lot of them sucks anyway). Descriptions are not the best datapoint (esp. for 4, 5 and 8), but that's something.

Not long time ago I discovered Tom Condon's fine distinctions and to my huge surprise I related to a lot of 8w7 points. I did score relatively high on 7 in tests, but I'm really unhealthy five and I'm past the point where test were valuable, so I discarded it.

Unfortunately there is no information about manifestation of this specific combination, so I ask you to provide me some input. Question for 5w6 specifically, but anyone with insite is welcome
I personally prefer to view it differently and look at how the gut fix orients you towards asserting yourself, your boundaries and existence in reality. Since that's the main crux of the gut triad.
It doesn't 'influence' your core per se, but change the sum total of your personality in a specific direction. Your core and fixes are like a puzzle, together they all give a picture.
But the individual pieces still come with meanings on their own too.

With 8 gut this usually comes with strong self-referencing boundaries and a self-assertiveness of what I think is right and wrong morally.
