Could a 649 be counterphobic??
I relate most with that type but with an assertive streak somewhere... And i dont really relate too much with 8s.
Sure! I would think so. I know the description leans more to the phobic side, but all 6s are in some way counterphobic and phobic (kind of on a continuum). So I don't see why a 649 couldn't be cp. 6 and 4 are also reactive types, so that might lend some assertiveness.

This thread truly is brilliant! Thank you for posting it.

As for me: INFP 469, this part specifically is so completely accurate of how I feel:

It particularly plays itself out in the social realm via shame, feeling utterly different, feeling hunted when very insecure (with no real external evidence to back the feeling up) and then by succumbing to a desire to merge with the group by lying down and playing 'dead' like a puppy. The merging brings short-term relief until my need to express myself takes over. If I can't I feel sickened by my lack of authenticity, if I can I do which opens me up to feeling exposed and ashamed again so I withdraw to avoid feeling hunted.
I find I can seem very calm on the surface but am a total wreck inside. And when that anxiety does find its way out, I feel very ashamed as well, for letting myself be affected. The back and forth is exhausting.

It is really a bit like a carousel, makes me feel sick - the constant loop.

I have to laugh as the 359s may not want to respond. They have reported a strong sensitivity to exposure.
I think 3-5-9 may expose him or her self if it is done say in one's writing in the name of academic or theological inspiration to others. We might describe our Dark Nights; however, immediately rush ahead to the good part where we overcame the darkness with our keen and wise mind and all is hunky dory now.

Calling all 359s... do you notice the need to conceal your true feelings from others?
I feel the need to conceal my true feelings from myself.
I smile when I read this. It is amazing to me that other 359s have something very similar. I need to add that 359s have a great sense of humor that is dry and witty.
The above is actually a true statement. I really have a difficult time with feelings. I feel things like enthusiasm, bursts of love and insight, and discomfort. There is a person in my life that makes me feel really upset. Instead of sadness or anger; whenever she comes around I get a migraine...
Do we have feelings?
Yes... or so I am told, tucked away in separate locked boxes.

A 9-5-3 would be the kind of 9 who is more intellectual (5), perfectionistic and focused on efficiency (3) with less of an emphasis on maintaining harmonious relationships than other 9s.
I am a 9-5-3 and this is incredibly accurate and specific!

I have noticed that when I am talking to people about something I did that was not up to my standards or that I regret, I immediately (before they can get a word in) explain how I remedied the situation. If I am talking about something important I am working on, it is almost impossible for me to say that I am struggling or that I have stopped working on it. I always try to act positive about it, even if I have to lie a little.

And about concealing true feelings: yes haha :D I too hide my feelings from others and myself. Which is extremely confusing and frustrating when I try to untangle them to see what I really feel.

I like how you described feelings as tucked away in locked boxes. I am just now learning to identify my various feelings. I just got anger recently - the person I was angry at (a type 5) actually made me express it because he said he could feel the anger radiating from my eyes and he just wanted me to get it out. I have a hard time expressing negative emotions to people because that means I am creating a space that is not harmonious. The few times I have expressed anger, afterwards I start joking around or give them a hug because I want things to be right again, even if they hurt me.

Also, I appreciate the advice about personal growth. Thanks for taking the time to do this :)

You're welcome! I'm afraid, however, I can't take credit for the words themselves. I just found them. :) But I'm glad they were helpful all the same.

I find both the 162 and 126 definitions are too warm and fuzzy for me. People often refer to 1s as the not most empathetic type, though they care to do right. I think of this typing as a matter of the meaning of the super ego types. 1 wants to better things around them, 6 is a fear of mistakes and consequences, 2 is the betterment of others for the appreciation shown as a response. A 1 can be very reluctant to invite these feelings of satisfaction for approval of others. Maybe they should do what they do just because they think it's best for the cause. Maybe it is because they care about others. Maybe they're as self-serving as everyone else in the end. The level of emotional connection 1s form with others certainly varies.

Also, in my research, I've noticed that the descriptions only consider one "version" of each type, if that makes any sense. For example, with 2, they may not take into account the true superego nature of the type and how that may affect behavior, and instead focus on superficial adjectives and characteristics of the type, such as the vague "2s are caring." At unhealthy levels, 2s can become manipulative and demanding of love. I didn't really see that factor into the tritype descriptions with a 2.

And don't even get me started about the portrayal of type 9, haha.

the fauvres speak about the growing edge and blind spot of the tritypes, sort of a high and low side of each tritype. i would argue that to some extent the high and low sides of the types are integrated into these portraits.

I seen the part about 259. I'm a 9w1 5w6 and 2w6. and though the descriptions are relatively similar, when ever the 3 numbers of a tri type are switched, like from 259 to 952 the description is different. I'm pretty sure there was vary little mention on the 952 fix. there was a short mention of 95 I know, but I don't think it really said much of anything about the 952 type specifically. BTW, any one know of a good place for me to look more into my tritype? and if possible, specifically a 9w1 5w6 2w1?

I like and rather injoy self discovery. and some times can get far to into it to the point where I will spend countless hours combing over the entire internet looking to reaserch myself. XP and if I don't find anything or not enough to satify myself for now, I'll do it all over again a bit later or the next day untill I finally either tire myself out of it compleatly or just figure that I've finally learned enough.

Everything I found about your type I posted here. And I did intensive google searches for all the types. Some of the searches turned up more than others. I've been periodically checking for more. But I haven't turned up anything more substantial on your type as of yet. :/ Sorry.

that's ok. I wasn't really trying to complain I was just saying that I'd like to know a bit more about the 952 order specifically if I can. but I geuss that means you don't know of any places I could go to to learn more?

Oh, I didn't think you were complaining. I have the same frustrations. But, no, I don't have any specific place that you can go to learn more. However, I can suggest that you can lurk on the Enneagram Institute Discussion Board site. That's where I got a lot of my information. You can also lurk on the Fauvres' Facebook page, called Enneagram Explorations. I got a lot of my tidbits from there as well. I continue to lurk and comply more information. If I find anything about 952 specifically, I'll post it and tag you in it first thing.

cool, and thanks. I'll make another sticky note so I can remember to look those places up XP. (got like, 15 stickys already. only had this laptop for like a week.)
